THE OPPORTUNITY:The Personal Lines Department Manager will manage the Personal Lines department. Asset (Client/Account and Employee) Growth and Retention are two of the most important measurements. Provides mentorship and training to reach highest service levels, competencies in product knowledge, systems and procedures and works with producers (if applicable) and management to maintain synergy with HUB corporate goals, our carrier requirements, and the needs of our clients.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - More than 50% of each day, utilize independent and discretionary judgment with regard to management of assigned accounts.
- Manages service staff to ensure we're providing top level performance on the Account Management's day-to-day responsibilities. Making sure all employees are successfully managing the renewal & marketing process for existing accounts. Measuring and monitoring their duties, which include, but are not limited to, underwriting and evaluation of client's programs, timely renewal, marketing, forecast, utilization and other client reports as needed throughout the year. He or She will also ensure systems are being utilized appropriately, and will provide training in systems, and job knowledge.
- Ensures that all Account Managers are providing strategic support and direction to HUB clients including but not limited to short and long-term planning and overall consulting strategy and approach.
- Strengthens and maintains carrier relationships. Stays abreast of new products and lines of coverage, industry trends, developing technology and innovative concepts, and effectively communicates same with HUB Team.
- Works with producers and account management to manage the renewal & marketing processes, procedures, and practices according to established HUB systems and guidelines.
- Leads regular staff meetings to keep employees abreast of new and changing information, and to provide educational material as needed/required
- Performs regular file audits on employees, and performance evaluations. When necessary, provide counseling to employees who require improvement in their job performance.
- Fosters a positive and mutually supportive working environment, in order to provide the best possible client service and producer support.
- Services the needs of our insureds with professionalism, positive attitude, and promptness.
- Responsible for the accomplishment of the groups' goals, measured by the established performance indicators such as account rounding, cross-selling, market submission timeline goals, client retention goals, etc. Maintains the n role of Account Manager in servicing personal lines book of business within group for producer or team of producers, as needed.
- Responsible for providing assistants and service teams with all the necessary information needed to perform tasks delegated to perform to the minimum level of our "Best Practices".
- Manages his or her workflow on assigned accounts (if any), which include, but is not limited to: daily mail, negotiating terms, ordering of renewal or new coverage, endorsements, audits, invoicing, binders, evidence of insurance, company and/or client correspondence, claims handling, suspense and follow-up, computer information input and client and/or policy information update. Making coverage recommendations to client and/or sales staff, and provide terms for coverage recommendations.
- Maintains controls on renewal expirations and binders. Checks policies, endorsements and other policy documents for accuracy.
- Works with producer (if applicable) in marketing, quoting, and placing new and renewal risks. Set up complete policy applications and/or specifications as required for renewal business in conjunction with clients' needs and in conjunction with producer instructions. Communicate and coordinate marketing as deemed necessary with marketing department, with awareness of carrier commitments and account profitability. Coordinate and prepare presentation and illustration of proposals as requested or required by producer.
- Coordinate with producer and/or accounting department in collecting premiums promptly or taking action in accordance with agency credit program.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE: - College Degree strongly preferred
- 7+ years of Personal Lines experience within a brokerage environment, and minimum of 3 years managing a service team
- Demonstrated computer proficiency
- Proven leadership skills
- Excellent analytical, negotiating, and organizational skills.
- Technical expertise in property, general liability, workers' compensation, umbrella, and specialty coverage.
- Property/Casualty License required (active and in good standing)
- Continuing education as required by California State law.
- Pursuit of insurance technical education: CIC, AAI and or CPCU/CLU, ARM, CISR, ACSR, AICS, etc.
The expected salary range for this position is $85,000-100,000/year and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate's skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position's business line, scope and level.
