This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations.

The Permit Coordinator coordinates and manages all permit and plan activity across the division, tracking and monitoring permits with regulatory agencies, compiling supporting documentation, maintaining reports, preserving files, and communicating with partners, stakeholders, officials/regulatory agencies, and Facilities Engineering/Construction teams. This is role requiring the ability to operate with minimal oversight, apply sound judgment on complex permitting issues, and serve as the primary liaison between Blue Origin and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) throughout the full permit lifecycle — from application through Certificate of Occupancy (CO).

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain and log documents from Engineers, Architects, Contractors, and Vendors to coordinate the permit application process.
  • Confirm and track all required approvals for permits; act as primary liaison between the company and each regulatory agency throughout the entire permitting process.
  • Prepare and submit application status updates to agencies, partners/stakeholders, and boards having jurisdiction over required permits and/or approvals.
  • Review applications/packages issued by the Facilities Engineering/Construction team, along with all supporting documents, for accuracy; confirm that all start packages are complete before submission.
  • Coordinate paperwork and applications with outside consultants/contractors as necessary.
  • Work closely with agencies on permit status and ensure timely processing.
  • Produce and maintain permitting schedules for all projects; coordinate with regulatory agencies from initial approval through final stages (CO) of the permitting process.
  • Enter, maintain, and update permitting data daily in the master tracking log/dashboard (status, jurisdiction, submission/expiration dates, outstanding actions).
  • Print and prepare template packages for the Facilities Engineering/Construction team.
  • Verify inspections are completed and conditions resolved to obtain Certificates of Occupancy for project closeout.
  • Maintain all company files relating to site plan applications, product approvals, licenses, and permits in an audit-ready state.
  • Communicate regularly with Facilities Engineering and Construction to troubleshoot and resolve field issues, ensuring closings are met on schedule.
  • Identify permit-related risks to project schedule or budget and escalate with recommended mitigations.
  • Provide regular status reporting to project managers, leadership and stakeholders on permit health across the portfolio.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to standardize and streamline permit tracking across FMSO/Facilities Engineering projects.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in construction permitting, project coordination, or project controls, with demonstrated ownership of full permit lifecycles.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction permitting processes, building codes, and AHJ interactions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent permits/projects independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with project tracking tools (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, SharePoint, or similar).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experienced interfacing directly with external regulatory agencies and internal leadership.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and document accuracy in high-compliance environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • Experience coordinating permits for industrial, aerospace, or manufacturing facility construction.
  • Familiarity with local/state AHJ processes in [relevant jurisdiction(s)].
  • PMP, CAPM, or similar project management certification.
  • Experience with environmental or fire/life safety permitting.
  • Experience mentoring junior coordinators or leading permit tracking process improvements.

Base Pay Range for:

WA applicants is $91,852.00 - $128,592.45

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
