Job Duties:

The PeopleSoft Developer is a key part of the Student Information System Services (SIS) technical team. The incumbent in this position is responsible for PeopleSoft development, including integrations, upgrades, customizations, and reports. The incumbent will also contribute to planning, design, and technical recommendations. The individual will work under general oversight and will promote best practices through comprehensive documentation and change management controls. The ability to handle several projects concurrently (both independently and collaboratively) and meet deadlines is required. Some evening and weekend work is required.

Key Job Responsibilities:

PeopleSoft Development and Support
  • Develop and debug software components using PeopleSoft specific tools, languages and environments.
  • Design and implement solutions using Application Engine, SQL, PeopleCode, Application Packages, Application Classes, and Integration Broker.
  • Develop and support PeopleSoft Fluid components and user interfaces.
  • Build and debug application interfaces between PeopleSoft and other systems.
  • Develop and update software components in support of PeopleSoft updates and enhancements.
  • Participate in the detailed analysis, design, development, and implementation of enhancement projects.
  • Support system testing and bug fixing activities.
  • Create complex reports and SQL queries to support business users' requests.
  • Coordinate or perform database related tasks.
  • Provide technical support and enhancements for PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Student Administration modules.
  • Provide technical support and enhancements for Student Financials modules.
  • Collaborate with functional teams to implement solutions that meet business and campus requirements.

Professional Development
  • Through classes, conferences, and reading, keep abreast of new PeopleSoft developments.
  • Participate in user groups, working groups, and information exchanges to share and expand knowledge of PeopleSoft technologies.

PeopleSoft Consulting
  • Assist partners/customers with development and debugging of PeopleSoft customizations and software components.
  • Assist partners/customers with implementation and development of application interfaces.
  • Assist partners/customers with development related to PeopleSoft software updates.
  • Support installation of developed interfaces and customizations for partners/customers.


Department:

The Office of Learning & Information Technology Services (OLITS) is dedicated to supporting the use of technology to enhance the teaching and learning mission of the UW System universities. OLITS staff have responsibility for systemwide collaboration and enhancement of six major areas of Information Technology:
  • overall systemwide IT planning;
  • technology for teaching and learning;
  • development of major administrative systems;
  • wide area networking issues;
  • library automation and collections enhancement; and
  • research and development in emerging technologies.


In addition, OLITS develops and supports information technology systems and services that allow UW System Administration staff to effectively and efficiently perform their responsibilities.

Compensation:

The PeopleSoft Developer (official title: Software Engineer/Developer IV) is a full-time, salaried (exempt), academic staff position.

Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $91,000 - $104,000 commensurate with the candidate's education, related experience, and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer and information technology or a related information technology field
  • Two or more years of demonstrated proficiency in Oracle PeopleSoft development, with experience working in PeopleSoft 9.2 environments.
  • Experience working with Integration Broker, People Tools, Application Engine, SQL, PeopleCode, Application Packages, and Application Classes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

Well-qualified applicants will also have a substantial amount of experience in a combination of the following:
  • Experience building and debugging application customizations using PeopleSoft specific tools, languages, and environments.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Fluid development in a 9.2 Campus Solutions environment.
  • Familiarity with controlled change management processes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in creating and modifying reports.
  • Experience in planning, implementation and design of PeopleSoft customizations and integrations.
  • Demonstrated focus on customer service and customer support.
  • Experience creating technical documentation.


Work Location:

Telecommuting or hybrid work options may be available. The business location is located at 780 Regent Street in Madison WI. Preference will be given to candidates that reside within the state of Wisconsin. Telecommuting agreements are subject to change at any time.
