Full Job Description
Hudson River Trading (HRT) is seeking a People Partner (HRBP) to join our People Operations team in NYC.

In this role, you'll support a highly technical employee population, partnering with engineering leaders to understand their challenges and design and execute talent solutions to drive organizational effectiveness and employee engagement.You will operate as both a strategic advisor and a hands-on problem-solver, building strong relationships with leaders to advise and support them through organizational growth, team design, change management, and leadership development.

The ideal candidate brings strong business acumen and EQ, experience supporting engineering teams, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Coach managers and employees through performance challenges, conflict resolution, and career development
  • Partner with technical leads to evaluate team health, identify friction points, and optimize structures to drive team effectiveness and long-term engagement
  • Lead and manage workforce planning for the teams you support, helping leaders anticipate talent gaps, succession needs, and growth opportunities
  • Elevate the quality of feedback within the technical org, guiding managers through performance evaluations and fostering a culture of continuous development
  • Design tailored talent solutions for software engineers, including professional development, mentorship models, and high-potential development
  • Partner with members of the People Operations team to execute on people initiatives and collaborate on building and improving processes
  • Coordinate offsites, leadership retreats, and team-building workshops that bridge the gap between strategic goal-setting and meaningful team connection
  • Maintain a pulse on organizational morale and office dynamics to proactively address engagement trends and foster an inclusive, high-energy environment

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with a proven track record supporting engineering or highly technical teams
  • Deep understanding of the software engineering lifecycle and the dynamics of high-performance, intellectually rigorous environments
  • Proven ability to coach highly analytical leaders through complex interpersonal and organizational challenges
  • Strong business acumen, including the ability to "look around corners" and anticipate talent implications of technical strategy
  • Direct experience in organizational design, workforce planning, and succession strategies
  • Strong analytical skills and a high degree of comfort using data to inform decision-making
  • Exceptional judgment and professional maturity, with the ability to act as a trusted, neutral advisor across all levels of the organization
  • A natural bias toward simplicity and high-impact solutions over bureaucracy
  • A hands-on, collaborative approach that prioritizes crafting specific tools and processes that fit our unique needs over generic HR programs
  • Foundational knowledge of Organizational Development (a related degree or equivalent is preferred, but not required)

The estimated base salary range for this position is 200,000 - 250,000 USD per year (or local equivalent). The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role will also be eligible for discretionary performance-based bonuses and a competitive benefits package.
