Full Job Description
SUMMARY

The People Data Lead is responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely maintenance of employee data in Workday. This role leads a small team of People Data Specialists, provides day-to-day guidance and workload coordination, and ensures data quality across the employee lifecycle. The Team Lead serves as a key liaison between the business, HR Business Partners, and the People Data team, bringing strong HR knowledge to interpret transactions and mitigate risks associated with data or process errors.

PRIMARY SCOPE OF ROLE

TEAM LEADERSHIP & COORDINATION
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to team responsible for entering and maintaining employee data in Workday.
  • Coordinate and prioritize team workload to ensure service levels, deadlines, and data accuracy standards are met.
  • Review work for quality and compliance; provide feedback and guidance to reduce errors and improve efficiency.
  • Support onboarding and ongoing training for People Data team members.


DATA MANAGEMENT & TRANSACTION PROCESSING
  • Review, approve, and audit Workday transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with policies and processes.
  • Ensure employee data changes related to hires, terminations, job changes, compensation, and personal information are processed correctly.
  • Proactively identify data issues, root causes, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • May be required to enter employee data and process transactions in Workday during peak periods or complex cases.


HR PARTNERSHIP & STAKEHOLDER SUPPORT
  • Act as a point of contact between the business, HR Business Partners, and the People Data team for data-related inquiries and requests.
  • Provide guidance to HR and business stakeholders on data requirements, timing, and downstream impacts of transactions.
  • Apply HR knowledge to assess the implications of data entry errors and recommend corrective actions.


PROCESS & COMPLIANCE
  • Ensure adherence to data governance standards, internal controls, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Support documentation and continuous improvement of People Data processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist the People Data Team Manager with reporting, audits, and special projects as needed.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in HR operations, HRIS, or people data administration.
  • Hands-on experience with Workday (or a comparable HRIS), including data entry and transaction processing.
  • Solid understanding of core HR processes across the employee lifecycle.
  • Experience leading or coordinating work for others, including task prioritization and quality review.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of HR policies, processes, and the downstream impact of incorrect data.
  • Ability to balance hands-on work with people leadership responsibilities.
  • Sound judgment when reviewing and approving transactions.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Proficiency with HR systems and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Formal people-lead or supervisory experience.
  • Experience supporting HR Business Partners or a shared services HR model.
  • Knowledge of data governance, audits, or compliance practices in HR.
  • HR certification (e.g., CHRP) is an asset.


WHAT WE OFFER
  • Expected Base Salary: $85,000 - $95,000 per year. The actual base salary will depend on several factors including experience, qualifications, internal equity, work location and market expectations.
