Employment Type: Full-Time Regular

Number of in-office/on-site days: 2 days per week

Annual Salary Range: Exempt Band 4, MIN $93,100.00 - MED $109,550.00 - MAX $126,000.00

Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of knowledge, skills, experience and ability of the candidate to meet the key requirements of the job. In addition, our pay philosophy is to align with the median of the comparable market and to be considerate of internal equity comparisons.

What you'll be doing...

The People and Culture Advisor is a trusted business partner and collaborative advisor for diverse client groups on all things people and culture related. This particular position will support our Operations Division, with a strong focus on labour relations. This position acts as a trusted partner on a broad range of matters, and the ability to pivot quickly and adjust priorities each day in support of our dynamic workplace is a must. No two days are alike! Working closely with leaders across the organization, you will independently provide practical, solutions-focused advice on complex workplace and labour relations matters. The successful candidate will be a trusted resource for leaders, exercising sound judgment to support:

  • Employee and union matters
  • Grievances
  • Performance and attendance concerns
  • Workplace investigations
  • Accommodations
  • Interpretation and application of multiple collective agreements, policies and employment legislation


This role requires a confident, experienced HR professional who builds strong relationships, influences outcomes, and navigates challenging situations with professionalism and credibility.The successful applicant will join a team of talented HR professionals who provide strategic, practical, and valued HR advice through partnership with the People and Culture Division and BC Transit leaders, ensuring alignment with corporate culture and business initiatives.

What you'll bring to the table...

  • Progressive experience in Human Resource
  • Proven experience providing advice and support to People Leaders on strategic matters in a complex environment and coaching in the interpretation and application of collective agreements or policies.
  • Experience managing complex investigations and labour relations issues.
  • Experience or an interest in collective bargaining is an asset.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work in a team and collaborate with others to foster supportive working relationships
  • Solution focused an experienced working in an environment that demands strong deliverables along with the ability to identify problems and drive appropriate solutions.
  • Preference may be given for related experience in a large, complex, multi-union organization.
