Full Job Description
The Opportunity:

We are seeking a People Advisor, Americas to support our day-to-day operations of the People Business Partnering Team in the United States and Canada, with a focus on strengthening and standardizing people processes for our California-based employees. This full-time role is ideal for someone early in their People career who enjoys delivering excellent employee service and supporting key People processes across the employee lifecycle. Responsibilities include onboarding, offboarding, employee records management, employee inquiries, benefits and leave administration support, employee engagement activities, reporting, and general People administration. This role is a hybrid position located in Los Angeles, CA. This individual will be expected to commute three days per week to work in our Los Angeles office.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a first point of contact for routine People Team questions, helping employees navigate policies, processes, systems, and forms.
  • Maintain accurate employee records in People systems and personnel files, ensuring information is complete, current, and handled confidentially.
  • Prepare, process, and track documentation related to new hires, employee changes, leaves, transfers, terminations, and other employment lifecycle events.
  • Coordinate pre-employment and onboarding activities, including offer support, background check coordination, onboarding documentation, new hire communications and orientation, and People system updates.
  • Support benefit and leave administration processes by coordinating documentation, tracking requests, and assisting with employee communications.
  • Prepare and maintain standard employee reports, workforce metrics, and data audits to support operational reporting and People Team decision-making.
  • Support employee engagement programs and initiatives, including communications, events, surveys, and recognition activities.
  • Support recurring People Team activities such as reporting, data audits, employee communications, policy acknowledgements, and compliance tracking.
  • Support the documentation and maintenance of People processes, templates, checklists, and guidance materials.
  • Coordinate the administration and tracking of required employment notices, workplace postings, and employee documentation across the U.S. and Canada.
  • Support People Business Partners with administrative and operational activities that contribute to positive employee experience.
California specific responsibilities:
  • Assist with California-focused People administration, including required notices, personnel file processes, workplace postings coordination, and documentation practices.
  • Support the administration and tracking of California-specific leaves, accommodations, sick time, wage/hour documentation, and related employee communications, in partnership with People leadership and external advisors as needed.
  • Partner with People Business Partnering team members to document and improve California-specific People workflows, checklists, templates, and process guidance.
  • Serve as a key coordinator for California HR administration processes, supporting employees across California.


Skills and Experience:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in human resources, employee services, recruitment coordination, administration, or a related role.
  • Experience supporting employee populations in the United States and Canada, with direct experience supporting employees in California.
  • General knowledge of California employment legislation and HR practices, including familiarity with employment standards and leave requirements.
  • Familiarity with leave management processes and employee lifecycle administration.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, gather information, and support timely resolution.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines within a high volume and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team-orientation across a matrixed, professional services environment.

Preferred:

  • Ideally worked successfully in a global professional services firm previously.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify process gaps and suggest practical improvements.
  • Familiarity with Workday, Paylocity, and best-practice people processes.
  • Experience supporting employee engagement initiatives or events.
  • Understanding of basic project management principles, including planning, coordination, organization, and follow-through.
  • Self-driven and comfortable with navigating processes from start to finish.
  • HR certification (PHR, PHRca, SHRM-CP) or course relevant accredited coursework is an asset.

What We Offer:

Compensation: HKA offers an annual salary range for this opportunity between USD $90,000 and $110,000 depending on evaluation of transferable skills, qualifications and experience.
