You'll be part of our talented and cohesive team, providing general acute pediatric care, neonatal and consultant pediatric services to patients and their families at KGH. Enjoy a busy and challenging practice working alongside an excellent team of caring professionals.

Kelowna serves as a referral centre for the Central Okanagan. Our state-of-the-art NICU houses 12 beds and supports babies born after 30 weeks of gestation. We have a 10-bed pediatric unit with an adjacent pediatric urgent care clinic. We also have outpatient clinic space, which is used for outreach clinics from various sub-specialist groups from BC Children's Hospital.

In association with UBC's Southern Medical Program, you'll have opportunities to teach medical students, family practice and senior pediatric residents. Academic work takes place in both the Clinical Teaching Unit and Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit, averaging one week per month.

Kelowna General Hospital

Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is one of two tertiary hospitals within Interior Health, and is the region's main referral centre, offering a full range of services with approximately 400 beds and over 84,000 ED visits yearly. KGH has become one of BC's leading healthcare centres.

Home to the Interior Heart & Surgical Centre, the IHSC is BC's only cardiac critical care centre outside of Victoria and the Lower Mainland, and KGH's principal surgical site. It features 12 specialized ORs created for Thoracic, Urology, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Plastics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Ears, Nose, and Throat, Orthopedics, General, and Trauma surgeries. Of these, 2 ORs are dedicated to Cardiac Surgery. Within the IHSC, KGH also has a modern maternity ward and an adjacent Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Our state-of-the-art Centennial Building boasts a total of 360,000 square feet, an expanded emergency and ambulatory care department, new medical inpatient units, modern operating rooms, and a rooftop helipad. Additional facilities include a dedicated pediatric ward, as well as adolescent and adult psychiatry units. The Dr. Walter Anderson Building houses enhanced laboratory and clinical departments, supporting advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities.

KGH is also a teaching centre for the Southern Medical Program affiliated with UBC and has an academic campus that serves as a satellite for the University of British Columbia Medical School.

Compensation Type Alternative Payment Arrangement Estimated Remuneration As a general pediatrician in Kelowna, you'll have the opportunity to optimize your earnings through the provincial APP clinical service contract, which offers an hourly rate of $229.21, plus after-hours premiums and MOCAP Level 1.

Benefits and Incentives
Other Benefits/Incentives For a full-time position, we offer up to $9,000 in assistance if moving within BC, up to $12,000 within Canada, and up to $15,000 from outside Canada. Please note incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at the time of offer.
