Job Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.
Unit Information:
Our 32-bed Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Unit specializes in providing comprehensive care to children with cancer, hematologic disorders, and those undergoing bone marrow transplants. Our patients range from infancy to young adults. In this fast-paced and high acuity environment, our nurses administer many IV medications and blood products. Because of this acuity, our ratios are 2-3 patients per nurse.
To support our nurses’ professional growth, we spread out learning and skill development over two years, starting with chemotherapy certification and advancing through tiered bone marrow transplant education. This structured approach ensures our team delivers the highest standard of care while continuously building expertise in oncology and hematology nursing.
