Full Job Description
This is a 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) pediatric physical therapist position at Gillette Children's. The primary site for the position is our 9550 Upland Lane North, Maple Grove, MN 55369 location and the candidate may be required to travel occasionally to other Gillette sites. The physical therapist position requires practicing in various settings including outpatient, telehealth, and occasional holiday weekend rotation on the inpatient unit.

Schedule: 4 - 10 hour shifts/week (Mondays Off)

Purpose of Position

Provides direct and indirect family centered therapy services for patients to increase functional abilities, independence and community integration. Contributes to department, program and service teams to assure achievement of desired outcomes.

Specific duties are determined by the work setting or patient population served; however, in all positions, serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. We organize care around each patient's condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities including communicating efficiently and effectively and adopting the behaviors required for high functioning integrated teams.

Compensation and Benefits Information

The hourly wage for this opportunity is $37.17 to $55.73, with a median wage of $46.45/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity.

  1. Completes an evaluation utilizing principles of family-centered care.
  2. Implements a therapy care plan utilizing principles of family-centered care.
  3. Completes necessary administrative and procedural tasks in a timely manner.
  4. Completes training in essential job competencies.

Qualifications

Required:
  • PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE/REGISTRATION-
    • Physical Therapy State License
    • Pending credentials: Registration and Licensure pending, not to exceed three months in this status
  • Current certification in CPR (BLS for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association) or must obtain certification within 90-days of hire.
  • Knowledge, skills, abilities:
    • Knowledge: transition from pediatric to adult health and rehabilitation care and of rehabilitation practice for adults with Childhood onset disabilities.
    • Pediatric experience strongly preferred in Burnsville, Minnetonka, Maple Grove and St. Paul; desirable at Phalen Adult Clinic. Experience working with adults with childhood onset disabilities strongly preferred at Phalen Adult; desirable in Burnsville, Minnetonka, Maple Grove and St. Paul.

Preferred:
  • Pediatric experience strongly preferred
  • Virtual care experience
  • Knowledge: transition from pediatric to adult health and rehabilitation care and of rehabilitation practice for adults with Childhood onset disabilities.
  • Experience working with adults with childhood onset disabilities desirable.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of child growth and development, rehabilitation theory and practice with a wide variety of childhood onset diagnoses and related considerations including anatomy and neurology, emotional behavior factors, family needs and issues, community transition and equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Ability to function as an effective team member
  • Competency in physical therapy evaluation, treatment and family/community education and planning for transition to community services.
