Pediatric Hematologist to join our well-established team at BCCH.
The Division of Hematology/Oncology/BMT provides care by a team of experts knowledgeable in the specialized medical evaluation and treatment of children with cancer and blood disorders in the Province of British Columbia and Yukon. There is an extraordinary sense of cohesion, collegiality, and professionalism of the entire team. The program is an active member of the Association of Hemophilia Directors of Canada (AHCDC), Canadian Pediatric Thrombosis and Hemostasis Network (CPTHN), Canadian Hemoglobinopathy Association (CanHAEM) and the Children's Oncology Group and has a highly productive research program and an exceptionally strong fellowship training program. It is affiliated with the University of British Columbia, offering rich opportunities for clinical innovation, research collaboration, and academic advancement.
The team delivers comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic, consultative, and directive care, including bleeding disorders, red cell disorders, simple and complex thrombosis, thromboprophylaxis in cardiac surgery, cellular therapy and stem cell transplantation for both non-malignant and malignant conditions, and is actively engaged in clinical and translational research. BC Children's Hospital is recognized for its culture of collaboration, professionalism, and academic excellence, and the cohesion and collegiality of the Division are central to its success.
We are seeking an expert clinical and academic hematologist with a strong record and sustained commitment to excellence in clinical care, research, education and program development in pediatric classical hematology. Interest in pediatric thrombosis is an asset but not a requirement. The successful candidate will deliver outstanding patient care while advancing academic and research initiatives within the Division. They will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, strengthen partnerships with the BC Children's Hospital Research Institute, and build national and international collaborations to advance discovery and translational research. The appointee will play an integral role in sustaining and enhancing the Division's culture of innovation, collegiality, and academic distinction.
The candidate will have passed or be eligible for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada examinations in Pediatrics, or comparable qualifications, and will have completed a recognized training program in Pediatric Hematology and/or Oncology.
The successful candidate will be appointed at the appropriate Clinical Faculty rank at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine. Academic rank and clinical salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
