Summary:

The Pediatric Clinical Psychologist will work as part of our multidisciplinary team at the NEST Clinic. The NEST Clinic serves families on the post NICU journey where our team assist NICU babies from discharge through the age of five. The goal of this program is to ensure that every NICU graduate has the opportunity to reach their fullest individual developmental potential.

NEST Developmental Follow-up Center for NICU Graduates | Cook Children's

The Psychologist will provide outpatient psychotherapy, psychological testing and education to children and famiiles. Primarily works with infants - 5 years old. The Psychologist must possess knowledge and understanding of normal pediatric/adolescent growth and brain development as well as have experience with pediatric/adolescent mental health diagnoses and a variety of treatment milieu and psychological tests. Experience with ADHD, developmental delays, mood disorders, complex psychiatric and neuropsychiatric conditions, and trauma-informed care is preferred. Understanding of the ecological, biological, genetic, and developmental factors that promote health across the lifespan is preferred.

Required Education & Experience:
  • Doctoral Degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD) from an APA accredited institution.
  • Training in child growth and development.
  • Experience providing assessments/testing to children with ADHD, developmental delays, mood disorders, autism spectrum disorders, complex psychiatric and neuropsychiatric conditions, and trauma-informed care (preferred).
  • Understands the impact of trauma and ecological, biological, and developmental factors on children and adolescents.
  • Prior experience working with children & families (preferred).
  • Experience using a variety of treatment milieu and psychological tests.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop outstanding leadership skills.
  • Demonstrate commitment to high standards of patient care and maintain a positive experience for all children and families.


Required Licensure and Certification:
  • Licensed Psychologist in the state of Texas, or the ability to obtain. (will consider Provisional License if close to licensure).
  • American Heart Association CPR must be obtained prior to start.
