Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with physicians in an outpatient surgical environment.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, diagnoses, and interventions.
  • Manage a personal panel of patients with physician supervision.
  • Provide clinic and call coverage as necessary.
  • Prescribe treatment modalities to address wellness and illness needs.
  • Possibly conduct rounds for physicians.

Summary:

The NP/PA, Surgical functions in a collaborative practice with physician(s) in the outpatient setting. Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention according to approved protocols. Develops and maintains own volume of patients under the supervision of a physician. Provides practice/clinic/call coverage and may round for physician(s). Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs and prescriptive authority.

Day shift role, outpatient, 4 - 10 hour days

Education and Experience

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses

Master's Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred.

Physician Assistants

Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies and minimum 1 year of experience in related specialized area strongly preferred.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses
  • Current Texas professional registered nurse license
  • Current Texas professional advanced practice registered nurse license
  • Certified as an RNFA preferred
  • Certified as a Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
  • Current Basic Life Support (CPR) is required.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required when assigned to Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery
