Job Summary:

The Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology Division Administrator (1.0 FTE) is responsible for overseeing the administrative, operational, and financial activities of the Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology in the Department of Anesthesiology. The Division Administrator manages the Division's fiscal affairs and day-to-day operations in support of the Division's, Department's, and school's clinical mission and goals and works closely with the Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology staff to implement fiscal and operational needs and/or changes.

This position supports and collaborates with the Vice Chair and Division Chief and other key stakeholders to develop and implement strategy and program development. Working under the direction and guidance of the Director of Finance & Administration, the Administrator represents the Division within the Department and the School of Medicine, Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO), Anschutz Medical Campus and the University of Colorado, providing essential communication and networking for the effective functioning of these entities. In executing this role, the Division Administrator will work collaboratively with the CHCO Director of Child Health Provider Partnerships.

Under the authority of the Director of Finance & Administration, this role will directly supervise support staff, including a Division Manager, as well as collaboratively supervise with and/or give feedback to the Department's Assistant DFA, HR Director, Education Manager, and Research Manager with respect to the performance of HR, education, fiscal, and research staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all funds of the Division including State, UCD gift and endowment funds, grants and contracts funds, as well as clinical funds. Additionally, manage the financial aspects of operations and staffing, faculty recruitment, investment analysis, and other short- and long-term planning functions.
  • Prepare budgets, control, and monitor revenue and expenditure activity for each source of funds. Budgeting and financial management occurs in multiple fiscal systems including the state, CU Medicine as well as multiple hospitals and other entities, including CHCO. Responsible for managing the Funds Flow process for the Division.
  • Prepare Division level faculty salary data and sources of funds for annual salary recommendation process and respond to requests from the Director of Finance & Administration for fiscal budgetary information.
  • As a member of the administrative senior leadership team, develop strategy and operational planning for clinical care services within the Department. In partnership with other department directors, oversee administrative, research and educational programs. Support operational procedures and coordinate implementation of new initiatives.
  • Participate in planning activities for the Division, including long-range and short-range planning. Responsible for projection of programs, patient/client census, revenues and expenses, personnel needs, and facility needs.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee effective, efficient, and regulatory-compliant administrative, financial, and operational clinical systems and processes.
  • Facilitate and promote staff development and training. Create performance plans and complete annual evaluations for direct reports.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business/public/health administration, accounting, finance or closely related and six to eight (6-8) years of professional experience leading (or significant contributions towards) an organization or business unit in an operational, fiscal, and/or strategic capacity
  • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis. An advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university in business/public/health administration, accounting, finance or closely related.
  • Experience working in healthcare or an academic medical center
  • Four (4) years of experience in managing multiple staff including hiring and evaluations of staff.
  • Experience managing all aspects of a complex organization, including (but not limited to) operations, finance and Human Resources
  • Ability to work within a complex organization with many competing demands and priorities

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $86,518 - $115,934

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
