Position Summary

The Demand Planning Supervisor is accountable for forecast accuracy for Standard Motor Products' Vehicle Control and Temperature Control divisions, leading the corporate demand planning group and the day-to-day execution of the statistical and collaborative forecasting process. The Supervisor manages a team of demand planners to deliver timely, accurate forecast updates within the company's advanced planning systems (Logility and RELEX) and ERP (JDE), and partners closely with Customer Collaboration (CPFR), Pipeline Planning, Procurement, and the business units to balance customer service levels against inventory investment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of demand planning analysts; set priorities, manage workload, and ensure on-time completion of all forecast cycles.
  • Be accountable for forecast accuracy for assigned categories and divisions; monitor key metrics (forecast accuracy and bias, fill rate, inventory turns) and drive root-cause analysis and corrective action on variances.
  • Maintain and continuously improve forecasts in the advanced planning systems, including system parameters, exception management, and process-improvement projects.
  • Partner with the Customer Collaboration / CPFR team to incorporate customer demand signals, point-of-sale data, and promotional/preseason activity into the forecast.
  • Coordinate new product introductions, SKU additions, life-cycle transitions, and obsolescence with Category Management and the business units.
  • Oversee inventory optimization to balance service-level targets with cost objectives; review safety-stock and replenishment parameters.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for forecasting questions and data issues for the demand planning group and cross-functional partners.
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization of demand planning processes, tools, and documentation.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Analytics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and 5+ years of demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain analysis experience.
  • Hands-on experience with advanced planning / forecasting systems (Logility, RELEX, or comparable) and ERP/MRP systems (JDE or comparable).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to analyze large data sets and build recurring reports.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and manage high-volume, time-sensitive work across multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the automotive aftermarket, retail replenishment, or distribution environment.
  • Proficiency with Power BI, SQL, or other reporting and analytics tools.
  • Experience with statistical forecasting, scenario planning, or AI/ML-based forecasting tools.
