Description
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and actively participate in the preparation and processing of weekly payroll within multiple states. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring payroll is processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with applicable requirements and company policies.
Responsibilities- Manage and actively participate in the preparation and processing of weekly payroll cycles
- Review employee timecards, earnings, deductions, reimbursements, and payroll changes for accuracy and proper documentation
- Calculate and process regular and overtime wages, bonuses, retroactive pay, PTO, garnishments, deductions, and other payroll adjustments
- Review payroll registers, audit reports, and exceptions to identify and correct discrepancies prior to final submission and funding
- Process off-cycle payrolls, manual checks, corrections, and other payroll adjustments as needed
- Research and resolve employee payroll concerns involving wages, deductions, taxes, PTO, and other payroll matters
- Collaborate with managers, supervisors, and Human Resources to resolve timekeeping, coding, approval, and employee payroll discrepancies
- Provide hands-on payroll support during high-volume periods, employee absences, and other operational needs
- Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records in accordance with company policies and applicable recordkeeping requirements
- Support payroll audits, reconciliations, reporting, and year-end payroll activities
- Provide guidance and support to payroll staff while promoting accurate and consistent payroll procedures
- Assist with additional payroll-related projects and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum five years of progressive payroll experience, including high-volume payroll processing
- Minimum two years of payroll leadership, supervisory, or management experience
- Strong working knowledge of federal, multi-state (CA, NV, HI, TX, CO, AZ, NM), and local payroll laws and wage and hour requirements
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage payroll processes and meet strict processing deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to identify payroll discrepancies, determine appropriate resolutions, and exercise sound judgment
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization
- Proficiency with payroll, timekeeping, and HRIS systems; Paylocity experience preferred
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred

Salary Description
$34.85 to $43.25 per hour (based on experience)
