Full Job Description
PAYROLL MANAGER

Location: Charlotte, NC (Corporate Office)

Work Environment: Monday - Friday (Hybrid work schedule after training)

Work Schedule/Hours: Normal Business Hours

Pay Range: The base pay range for this position is $78,000 - 85,000 USD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.

The Payroll Manager supports all payroll functions, including payroll processing, withholdings, reviewing and recommending enhancements to policies and procedures, as well as internal controls, and system testing as needed for the assigned pay groups. Maintain necessary vendor relationships including auditors and government agencies. Ensure payroll payments are in compliance with internal and external requirements. Responsible for adapting processes to handle both internal and external new requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of payroll, including earnings and deductions, for the assigned region
  • Adhere to the payroll controls for maintaining accuracy of payroll data prior to and after processing, and paid according to government regulations
  • Manage the proper analysis, distribution, and control of all payroll data, while preserving confidentially
  • Ensure required filings are completed in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance and operational excellence regarding internal & external audit guidelines, corporate policies, and procedures
  • Provide knowledge support to the HR team and associates to promote operational excellence, enabling the team to answer timely and accurately.
  • Troubleshoot escalated issues
  • Participate in various projects, audits, technical reviews, and system that have payroll implications
  • Partner with HRIS and the vendors to facilitate regional changes related to payroll
  • Propose requests for system improvements and maintenance
  • Participate in Payroll system implementations for the enterprise
  • Establish a direct link with sources of information on payroll and payroll tax laws
  • Participate in business continuity planning
  • Special Payroll/Audit/Tax projects and other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Control Procedures
  • Working knowledge of government compliance
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel
  • Technical skills: ADP, Ceridian, or equivalent processor; MS Office
  • Excellent problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Extremely detail oriented with the ability to prioritize workload demands, demonstrating the appropriate sense of urgency, establishing deadlines internally and with external business customers, and meet those deadlines
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively at all levels
  • Able to handle a high level of confidential employee information

Education and Experience
  • 3 or more years of applicable experience
  • Multi-entity, multi-cycle experience in US
  • Preferred: Multi-Country experience - US and Canada
