Full Job Description
Labcorp is seeking a Surgical Pathologist/Cytopathologist to join our team in Birmingham, AL.

Work Schedule: Generally (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm)

Job Responsibilities
  • Individual diagnostic evaluation and sign-out of surgical pathology and cytology cases, including a high volume of Gynecologic pathology specimens.
  • Assure compliance with quality, regulatory, and safety guidelines/standards
  • Accurate and timely evaluation of specimens tested
  • Assures good laboratory practice (GLP) and compliance with applicable accrediting and regulatory agencies
  • Provide expert consultation as needed with clients and staff, in person, by phone or electronically


Minimum Qualifications
  • Medical Degree from an accredited college/university
  • AL & GA Licensed Physician
  • Board Certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology
  • Eligible to obtain LA, MS, TN & FL state medical licenses


Additional Job Standards
  • Experience in a high-volume hospital and/or large referral laboratory environment preferred
  • Subspecialty Board Certification in Cytopathology is highly desired
  • Experience in gynecologic pathology is highly desired
  • Subspecialty training in Surgical Pathology is highly desired
  • Subspecialty training or experience in ENT, Breast or Gastointestinal Pathology
  • Organized and efficient problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
