  • Support IP portfolio reporting, audits, and data requests as needed.
  • Handle correspondence with patent offices and external service providers.
  • Collaborate with patent attorneys and paralegals to maintain and update patent practice procedures and policies.

EachPatent Paralegal supports DePuy Synthes99 Intellectual Property Legal team by managing daytoday patent prosecution and portfolio administration activities. This role plays a critical part in protecting the company99s innovations by ensuringaccurate,timely, and compliant handling ofglobalpatent filings and related documentation. The position offers meaningful exposure to global IP operations within a leading medical device organization and the opportunity to collaborate closely within-houseattorneys, otherparalegals, business partners,and external counsel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, file, and manage U.S. and international patent prosecution documents, including applications, responses, and formalities.

  • Coordinate with patent attorneys, inventors, and outside counsel to supporttimelyprosecution and maintenance of patent assets.

  • Monitorand ensure accuracy ofpatent deadlinesand recordsand follow up on required actions to ensure compliance with global IP requirements.

  • Assistwith preparation and submission of invention disclosures and related documentation.

  • Support IP portfolio reporting, audits, and data requests as needed.

  • Handle correspondence with patent offices and external service providers.

  • Collaborate with patent attorneys and other paralegals tomaintainand update patent practice procedures and policies for DePuy Synthes.

  • Apply company policies in all daily interactions and work activities.

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate92s or Bachelor92sdegreerequired; paralegal studies,or legalrelated field preferred.

Experience and Skills

Required:

  • 89110 years of experience supporting patent prosecution or intellectual property legal work.

  • Experience supporting U.S. and international patent filings, includingpossessingknowledge of U.S.and internationalpatent procedures and documentation requirements.

  • Experience using IP docketing and document management systems.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines accurately.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys,other paralegals,business partners, and external counsel.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in a medical device, life sciences, or regulated industry environment.

  • Familiarity with patent maintenance and annuity processes.

  • Understanding ofintellectual property compliance and record92keeping best practices.

  • Paralegal certificate from an accredited program.

Other:

  • Language: Englishproficiencyrequired.

  • Travel: Minimal; occasional domestic travel may berequired(<10%).

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.
