Responsibilities

What you'll be able to do:

Passive Safety Systems Integration Engineer - positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Palo Alto, California). Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned worksite. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from the worksite. Support the integration efforts for various electrical passive safety components, such as the restraints control module, pressure sensors, OCS, etc. Design passive safety HIL environments and conduct validation tests to prove sub-system readiness prior to vehicle launch. Develop the passive safety related Software vehicle features and work with the hardware, software, architecture, safety and other cross-functional teams to deliver said features. Work with the design and development engineers throughout the engineering organization to ensure passive safety components have appropriate vehicle packaging, electrical requirements and communication interface definition to achieve their specific vehicle functions. Develop detailed electrical device transmittals for various passive safety components and own the document until production. Participate in crash safety, functional safety and failure avoidance analysis of complex electrical and software vehicle subsystems (HARA, FMEAs, etc.). Report feature development progress and maturity at various program milestones. Support vehicle crash instrumentation design and planning to maximize test data quality and throughput. Manage supplier SW testing and integrate into the vehicle SW package. Domestic and International Travel Required up to 20%.

Qualifications

You'll have...

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Performing failure analysis and hardware systems debug to solve complex technical issues that arise during vehicle bring-up using Canalyzer, PEAK Software, Oscilloscope, Multimeter, and Terminal commands in unix enviroment. 2. Hardware and Software interaction, including usage of Automotive Communication stack, CAN, LIN, Ethernet and Unified Diagnostics Services (UDS - ISO 14229). 3. Stress testing, smoke testing, regression, fault injection testing, extended tests, and integration testing with safety critical automotive electronics. 4. Using Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure that changes are incorporated into shipping software via Jenkins and deployed to the vehicle fleet correctly. 5. Sensors development with automotive or aerospace applications, including filter design, calibration planning, and electrical/mechanical integration. 6. Reading and developing automotive electrical schematics, device transmittals, and electrical interfaces including Capital Wiring Designer, Falstad, and Miro. 7. Automotive industry experience writing Hardware and Software requirements for contracted vendors to meet the vehicle product specifications using Jama, Confluence, DBC++, Microsoft Word and Excel, and Miro. 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Using Jira to track project and program timelines and milestones, including collaborating and assigning tasks to external vendors.

We are offering a salary of $160,000.08 - $205,900.08/yr.
