We are looking for a Pasadena Site Director to join our Petrochemicals team in Pasadena, TX.

As the Site Director for the Pasadena site, you will lead a highly regulated and complex chemical manufacturing operation with full accountability for safety, compliance, and business performance. You will be responsible for a significant site operating budget, with full accountability for cost performance and financial discipline. You will lead and develop a team of approximately 60 employees, including shift personnel and direct reports across EHS, production, technology, maintenance, asset management, laboratory, quality, and site services.

As a Pasadena Site Director, you create chemistry by...

  • Owning the site's license to operate by ensuring full compliance with all environmental permits, regulatory requirements, and Responsible Care standards, recognizing that compliance failures can directly impact production continuity.
  • Driving a strong EHS culture and operational risk management, with focus on critical systems such as flare reliability, emergency response readiness, and incident prevention.
  • Leading and developing a high-performing leadership team and broader organization of ~60 employees, fostering ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Establishing strong leadership cadences and governance systems, ensuring KPI ownership, performance transparency, and disciplined execution across all site functions.
  • Representing BASF externally as the accountable site leader, managing relationships with regulators, community stakeholders, and key partners (e.g., site infrastructure providers), ensuring trust and compliance.
  • Leading and governing process safety and compliance systems, including RC audits, PSM/RMP programs, regulatory reporting, and permit renewals, ensuring disciplined execution and continuous audit readiness.
  • Managing a large-scale manufacturing operation with full accountability for site performance, including operating costs and capital investments.
  • Overseeing and prioritizing an annual CapEx investment portfolio to support reliability, compliance, and long-term competitiveness.


If you...

  • Have a bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, or a related technical field, along with significant experience in chemical manufacturing or other high-hazard industrial environments.
  • Bring deep expertise in process safety, environmental compliance, and regulatory frameworks, with proven accountability for maintaining a site's license to operate.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen, with experience managing large and complex operating budgets and driving cost efficiency and asset performance.
  • Have a track record of leading organizations of comparable size and complexity, successfully managing multidisciplinary teams and developing leaders.
  • Are confident engaging with a broad range of stakeholders, including regulators, community representatives, and external partners.
  • Bring a results-driven mindset with the ability to lead transformation, strengthen competitiveness, and sustain long-term operational excellence in complex environments.
