Full Job Description
Are you ready to contribute to Air Canada's next chapter? The Partner, Financial Analysis plays a critical role in helping drive the organization's financial performance by participating in the financial control and forecasting activities related to fuel expense. This role is responsible for providing strategic insights, financial modelling and actionable recommendations. He/she will be involved in discussions with senior management and/or executive management when required. The individual will ensure a consistently high-level of quality in service provided relative to both timeliness and accuracy Responsibilities: • Provide financial leadership and support to the AC Fuel branch in the ongoing management of their business activities including Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting. This would include developing a strong understanding of the dynamics of fuel sourcing, pricing, and consumption. This includes staying abreast of economic and industry developments. • Develop and implement Financial Performance Indicators for a better understanding of the cause-and- effect relationship of costs and to assure the efficiency and the performance of the branch • Deliver value added service to internal customers by identifying, and evaluating profitability enhancing opportunities and strategies, internal process changes and new cost savings opportunities. Includes coordinating with fuel accounting operations to ensure and improve upon accuracy of results. • Working with senior management teams, develop and recommend financial goals, objectives and strategy aligned with the Corporation's overall financial plan, including as they relate to ESG initiatives. • Monitor and analyze financial performance of the Fuel Division against forecast and ensure corrective actions are undertaken as required; perform post-evaluations of projects/programs as appropriate to assess actual versus target results • Work with various client groups, both within the Finance branch and across the company, to guide, develop and/or improve business decision-making processes, models and tools. Develop strong relationships with various internal clients and work closely to drive improved financial performance. • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of activities/issues/trends pertaining to the airline industry domestically and internationally, as well as aircraft economics • Perform the development of complex benchmarking studies with other carriers. Qualifications • Undergraduate degree in Finance with 5 - 8 years of relevant experience • Graduate studies (MBA or master's in finance) and/ or an accounting/a financial designation (CPA/CMA/CGA /CFA) would be a definite asset • Excellent understanding of cost accounting principles, financial evaluation techniques and statistical analysis • Very strong business and analytical skills • Very strong financial modelling skills • Leader and self-starter with demonstrated strong financial, technical skills and creativity • Flexible work schedule and ability to handle numerous and varied projects simultaneously • Demonstrated project management skills • Keen interest and experience in the airline industry • Strong sense of initiative and work ethic • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with others • Strong organizational skills and ability to shift priorities and work under pressure • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and Power BI (optional) • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
