LANDRY PARISH JOB NUMBER: 03-115927-PHMS-09102026-DS*** THIS IS A PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITY FOR DOTD CURRENT PERMANENT CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES ONLY ***The overall function of this position is to ensure that state maintained roads in the assigned parish within our highway system are maintained in accordance with DOTD standards. This position is located in District 03 of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Transportation Operations Manager. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times with minimal supervision and be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.

Minimum QualificationsFour years of experience in the construction or maintenance of public streets, roads, bridges, highways, railroad rights-of-way, levees, airport runways, taxi strips, parking aprons, or parking lots.

Job Duties and Other InformationJob Duties:
- Manages and coordinates maintenance activities in St. Landry Parish.
- Conducts weekly roadway inspections throughout the parish and prioritizes maintenance work needs.
- Confers with state, parish, and city officials and the general public concerning maintenance needs and complaints.
- Ensures proper maintenance and servicing of equipment to maximize life, minimize downtime and promote safe operation.
Position-Specific Details:Appointment Type: Promotion, only open to current permanent classified employees of DOTD.
A valid Louisiana Class "D" Chauffeur's License is required before appointment.
