Position Summary Cambrian College's School of Health Sciences and Emergency Services has an immediate opening for a full-time Paramedic Technologist within the Primary Care Paramedic program.
Note: Internal candidates, as defined by the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement, will be given first consideration.Duties and Responsibilities The Paramedic Technologist plays an integral role in supporting the delivery of high-quality laboratory, simulation, and practical learning experiences. The incumbent is responsible for the organization, preparation, maintenance, and day-to-day operation of the Paramedic laboratories, equipment, and simulation resources while collaborating closely with faculty to support student learning.
The successful candidate will also:
- Prepare, organize, and maintain laboratories, simulation spaces, equipment, supplies, and learning resources required for practical classes and simulation activities.
- Coordinate laboratory set-up, tear-down, cleaning, storage, and ongoing organization to ensure an effective learning environment.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance for simulation equipment, medical equipment, and laboratory resources.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate the ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution of equipment and supplies.
- Assist with budget monitoring by tracking laboratory expenditures and identifying equipment and supply needs.
- Collaborate with faculty to support laboratory instruction, demonstrations, simulations, and practical learning activities.
- Provide support to students during laboratory and simulation activities while fostering an inclusive and positive learning environment.
- Ensure laboratory operations comply with College policies, occupational health and safety requirements, infection prevention and control practices, and relevant professional standards.
- Develop, maintain, and update laboratory procedures, equipment documentation, inventories, and operational records.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives related to laboratory operations, equipment, and student learning.
- Support special events, student recruitment activities, program demonstrations, and other initiatives as required.
- Perform other related duties consistent with the position.
Qualifications Required:- Postsecondary diploma or degree in Paramedic. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application).
- Minimum three (3) years of recent experience working as a Paramedic.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current paramedic equipment, and entry-to-practice competencies.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn specialized software applications.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to establish positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
Assets/Preferred: - Experience working in a postsecondary education environment.
- Experience supporting simulation-based education or laboratory operations.
- Experience maintaining simulation, medical, or technical equipment.
- Experience with inventory management, purchasing, or budget monitoring.
