Your Next Opportunity

McMillan has an exciting opportunity as a full-time intermediate Financial Services Paralegalto join our Financial Services group in Vancouver. The Financial Services Paralegal will be responsible for supporting financing transactions and related due diligence work. You'll work closely with other lawyers and legal professionals across office, helping drive files forward with precision, sound judgement and excellent client service.

Please note that this role offers a hybrid workweek. Each week will combine both working at home for a few days and working in the Vancouver office for the balance. Your hybrid schedule will start once you join McMillan!

What You'll Do

  • Conduct, analyze, and summarize online legal research and due diligence searches using public databases
  • Draft and register financing statements, financing change statements, and discharge documentation; review verification statements, post-registration searches, and notices to debtors (as applicable)
  • Prepare information and document requests and review materials such as term sheets/commitment letters, trust agreements, and corporate documents
  • Draft and/or review legal documents including mortgages, security agreements, guarantees, priority agreements, officer's certificates, resolutions, government forms, and closing agendas
  • Conduct and review land title searches; prepare and register land title documents
  • Assist with closings, including drafting undertaking and payout letters, coordinating funds, and preparing wire and trust cheque requests
  • Correspond with clients, opposing counsel, and other law clerks/paralegals regarding financing transactions
  • Prepare closing books and reporting letters; manage post-closing issues and filings
  • Other duties as assigned


What You Bring

  • Minimum 3 years of financial services-related experience in a law firm or similar professional services environment
  • Paralegal/Law Clerk Diploma and/or Degree from an accredited university or college (or equivalent)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams
  • Experience with iManage (or similar document management systems) and Adobe Acrobat/Adobe Professional
  • Familiarity with registration and search platforms such as My LTSA, BC Online, and Registries Online is an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines, remain composed under pressure, and consistently present a professional image.
