The Department of Pain Medicine at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse, WI and secondary locations, is seeking a pain medicine physician to join our practice. Collaborating with 5 additional physicians and 3 Advanced Practice Providers in the state of WI, the pain medicine physician in the La Crosse, WI, has a unique opportunity to continue to grow and lead this practice site.

We provide adult care with focus on the interventional practice offering the full scope of procedures in the operating room but primarily in a newly designed fluoroscopy suite that opened in September 2024 along with a state-of-the-art hospital on the La Crosse campus. Workups in clinic are supported by our adjacent physical medicine & rehab and neurosurgery practices. This opportunity will be as a full-time pain medicine clinician, with clinical domains primarily in the ambulatory outpatient clinic and procedure suite. An academic appointment with the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine will be appointed based on merit. Opportunities for growth in educational, research, and administrative areas may be available for the interested candidate as the position matures.

License or Certification: The candidate must be a physician (MD or DO) with ACGME certified pain medicine fellowship training and board-certification/board-eligibility in Pain Medicine as well as in their base specialty. Candidates must be interested in clinical management of pain patients with complex medical histories via a multi-disciplinary collaborative approach. Candidates must possess the ability to perform a wide range of fluoroscopic pain medicine procedures including a breadth of spinal injections, radiofrequency ablations, peripheral and spine stimulator trials and placements, ultrasound-guided procedures, intrathecal pump and management, advanced procedures, and newer & upcoming procedures and techniques. Candidates must be willing to educate and supervise fellows, residents, and medical students and to work within care teams incorporating Advanced Practice Providers and nursing during clinical care assignments. An innovative spirit, team-first orientation, ability to adapt, leadership mindset, and openness to change are necessary attributes.
