Full Job Description
As the PACS Application Administrator, you will be responsible for the overall function of the Picture Archive and Communications System (PACS). Provide input on all hardware and software enhancements, upgrades, education, training and preventive maintenance and acting as a liaison between Radiology and other departments throughout the organization in digital imaging initiatives and integration efforts within IT and enterprise-wide clinical applications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manages, monitors, troubleshoots, backup functions, implementation, & trains staff on the Picture Archive & Communication (PACS) system.
  • Works effectively with Radiologists & all departments within Radiology to continuously improve the workflow between the modalities, PACS, RIS & voice recognition.
  • Organizes, plans, & directs activities relating to PACS & RIS for all designated areas.
  • Develops & implements a plan for monitoring & evaluation of PACS & continuous quality improvement
  • Administrates, revises, reviews and/or establishes department PACS policies, procedures, & software copies.
  • Plans & schedules all maintenance & upgrades to the network & provides feedback to department management & radiologists.
  • Coordinates and/or trains clinicians and department staff in the use of PACS and related systems.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations and Administrative oversight of PACS equipment to ensure 24x7 functionality, (Requires after-hour call availability)
  • Ensures complete capture of DICOM digital image data into the PACS system as well as network transmission, RIS validation, and exceptions handling.
  • Investigates, identifies, and prepares proposals to solve specific operational problems within all clinical operational areas
  • Acts as the liaison for coordinating activities of vendors
  • Ensures RIS/PACS backup and disaster recovery procedures are compliant with corporate standards.


EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE:

Required:
  • Three years clinical experience as a Radiologic Technologist
  • Demonstrated knowledge of familiarity with the PACS applications and systems
  • Ability to understand the configuration of a computer system and have knowledge of system maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated history of obtaining progressive responsibility in a similar work environment
  • Understanding of testing or exam performance and the relationship of the department to the rest of the hospital and the medical community
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to successfully function in a fast-paced, service environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team

Preferred:
  • Some formal studies in computer science preferred
  • Managerial experience preferred.
