JOB POSITION SUMMARY
Provides technical expertise and participates as an independent and integral contributor to cross-functional teams responsible for designing, developing, production scale-up and executing package testing of new packaging components, systems, and processes, as well as packaging equipment process validations. Leads projects with guidance of an experienced Packaging Engineer.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and optimize packaging for new product launches and existing products throughout all stages of product development from concept to launch, including clinical trials, global and limited market releases, as well as key operations initiatives
- Generate and execute design of experiments (DOE) for process validations.
- Apply appropriate industry standards such as ISO 11607-2, to specify and validate packaging equipment and packaging manufacturing processes to determine appropriate sourcing, purchasing, installation planning and specifications.
- Identify, develop, and participate in packaging operations projects (e.g., cost improvements, qualifying new suppliers and product transfers).
- Validates package components and packaging processes.
- Develops package testing plans and interprets results as required for various projects.
- Supports activities associated with manufacturing and testing.
- Provides troubleshooting in the resolution of packaging related issues in manufacturing and the field.
- Participates in process improvement or task teams.
- Participates and advises in decisions involving equipment, package design, cost saving and source reduction.
- Determines and coordinates physical testing to ensure product and package integrity for manufacturing through end users.
- Builds technical competencies in packaging materials and processes used in all manufacturing processes.
- Participates and provides technical expertise for risk assessment and compliance assurance programs.
- Assure delivery of robust, cost effective, fully compliant packaging solutions that meet current and evolving customers’ needs.
- Knows and follows all laws and policies that apply to one's job, and maintains the highest levels of professionalism, ethics, and compliance at all times.
- Promotes and nurtures the highest standards of professionalism, ethics and compliance and actively supports our compliance program-related initiatives and activities.
- Participate as an independent and integral contributor to cross-functional teams responsible for designing, developing, testing, and executing package testing, as well as packaging equipment process validations.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent Technical Degree required.
- 2-4 years work experience
- Medical device or regulated industry experience preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES AND AFFILIATIONS
- Fluency in English is required.

- Problem solving skills and ability to work independently is required.
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Familiar with ASTM and ISTA test methods, ISO 11607-1, ISO 11607-2, 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485
- GDP - Good Documentation Practices
- Good communication (e.g., written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Good understanding of processes and equipment used in assigned work.
- Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels.
- Ability to develop good technical writing skills.
