ofareas:counseling,specialeducation,curriculumandinstruction,childdevelopment,studentacademicandsocial
adjustment,testing,scheduling,schoollaw,studentrecordmaintenance,andspecialservicesandprograms.TheDirector
ofCounselingServicesmustdemonstrateschoolleadershipwithafocusonthedevelopmentofthewholechild,possessa
visionforhighschoolstudents,andserveasbothleaderandmentortothehigh-schoolstaff.TheDirector,asrequired,

  • Completesyear-endreportsandprovidesinputtoreportsrequiredbyotherstaffmembers.
  • Attendsandparticipatesinschool,district,Virginia,andnationalmeetings,workshopsandconferencesrelatedto
    educationand/orcounselingandkeepscurrentwithtrends,methods,andtechniques.
  • Plans,coordinatesandsupervisesaprogramofcounselingservicesinvolvingawidevarietyofstudentneeds,
    includingregistration,adjustmenttoschoollife,maintenanceofsatisfactoryscholasticperformance,andplacement.
  • Supervisesandevaluatesastaffofprofessionalcounselors,theregistrar,clericalstaff,paraprofessionals,and
    otherstudentservicesstaffasassigned.
  • Coordinatesanddevelopsprofessionaldevelopmentprogramsforstaffandparents(e.g.,substanceabuse,child
    abuse,legalandethicalstandards,andmanagingstudentsincrisis).
  • Managesandsupervisescollege/careerpreparationprogramsandtransitionprogramswithintheschool.
  • Coordinatesstandardizedtestingandfinalexamprocedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Master'sdegreefromanapprovedcounseloreducationprogramfromaregionallyaccreditedcollegeoruniversity.

    Salary will be based on the FY 2026-27 salary schedule: $123,429 - $216,433
