Position Description

Omaha Track Welding is currently seeking a highly skilled Industrial Controls Engineer to work in the Flash-Butt Welding Department located in Kansas City, Missouri. The Industrial Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, configuration, implementation, and optimization of industrial control systems, primarily utilizing Rockwell Automation platforms. This position ensures products operate in accordance with project specifications, safety requitement, and quality parameters.

Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Coordinate with management to ensure a thorough understanding of engineering project scope, timelines, priorities, resources, and budget requirements.
  • Design, program, and troubleshoot, process control logic primarily using Rockwell Automation Control Platforms, including Logix RS5000 and RS500.
  • Collaborate closely with customers to understand product requirements and product improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and integrate Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) using FactoryTalk SE, FactoryTalk ME, FT Optix, and VB.Net
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including network diagrams, control logic schematics, device configuration files, test protocols, and standard operating procedures.
  • Travel nationally and internationally to client sites for system installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and training as required
  • Make safety a priority consideration with all actions taken.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients, guiding them through system upgrades, modernization initiatives, and technology transitions

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent experience is required
  • 10+ years of experience working with Rockwell Automation platforms (ControlLogix, RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500).
  • Proven experience with PLC programming, SCADA/HMI development
  • Experience with Flash-Butt Welding equipment is preferred
  • A solid background and experience in heavy equipment, railroad industry, technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and effective communication skills are highly valued and are preferred
  • Must have the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of management & subject matter experts
  • Must have current US passport to travel international.
