About the Role

The OT Systems & Cybersecurity Lead is accountable for the lifecycle management, integrity, governance, compliance, reliability, and cybersecurity of all Operational Technology (OT) and Process Control Systems across the plant, including DCS, SIS, IPS/F&G, telecommunications, industrial networks, and third-party automation systems.

This role provides overall leadership for the plant's OT environment, ensuring that all systems are managed in accordance with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and cybersecurity frameworks. The incumbent serves as the key integrator between Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, IT, Cybersecurity teams, and external service providers to ensure safe, reliable, and secure operations.

You will use your expertise to:

  1. Operational Technology (OT) Leadership & Governance

  • Lead the ICSS/OT teams.
  • Site Focal Point for the OT cybersecurity framework, responsible for governance, implementation, sustainment, and continuous improvement of OT security controls.
  • Act as the plant's OT technical authority and trusted advisor, driving standardization, technology integration, modernization initiatives, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Provide technical input and guidance to other disciplines and functions to support business objectives.
  • Integrate and support other engineering disciplines in maintaining lifecycle management and cybersecurity compliance of their OT systems.

  1. Cybersecurity, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Support Asset teams in assuring full OT cybersecurity compliance across the entire control systems fleet.
  • Define and document surveillance and administration programs for critical control systems to achieve high standards of reliability, availability, and cybersecurity.
  • Define and document best practices and recommend performance improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure the integrity and security of critical control systems throughout their lifecycle through effective strategies and controls.

  1. Control Systems Engineering & Asset Lifecycle Management

  • Responsible for lifecycle and obsolescence management of Yokogawa Integrated Control & Safety Systems and associated infrastructure.
  • Provide control system engineering support, including design reviews, specification development and updates, technical studies, failure analysis, and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Support the department strategy and goals through engineering expertise and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain the reliability, availability, and performance of critical control systems.


  1. Vendor, Contractor & Service Management

  • Serve as Site Focal Point and business interface for enterprise OT applications and services (e.g., SecurePCD, PI, Dynamo, etc.).
  • Contract Holder for the Yokogawa service agreement, accountable for contractor performance and service delivery under long-term agreements.
  • Define and implement critical vendor agreements to support the lifecycle, integrity, and security of control systems.
  • Control and supervise activities undertaken by contractors, consultants, and service providers.

  1. Safety, People Development & Technical Mentorship

  • Lead by example in demonstrating excellent HSE compliance and ensure asset management systems and safe work practices are followed.
  • Guide less experienced engineers in implementing company integrity and reliability systems.
  • Define competency development plans and mentor Engineers-in-Training (EITs) to develop technical capability and knowledge.
  • Foster a culture of safety, technical excellence, and continuous learning within the team.


To be successful, you will have:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in OT experience and 10+ years in Cyber Security.
  • University degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics or Mathematics.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Process Control Domain infrastructure is required.
  • Proven safety leadership skills, good understanding of HSSE, AMS requirements, track record in managing personal and process safety.
  • Good leadership skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization. Work together with/align with other engineering disciplines for supporting operations and maintenance teams.
  • Skill level knowledge on MAC systems (DCS & SIS), especially with Yokogawa is added advantage.
  • Embrace change and can work with agility to constantly adapt and manage changes.
  • Excellent analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • In depth experience of application of project framework of process automation Standards and Industry Best Practices.
  • Strong networking and business relationship building skills is strongly desired.

This role requires that you:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
  • This role can be based in Calgary or Kitimat, with an expectation to travel onsite Kitimat at least 1 week every month if based in Calgary
  • Maintains a strong relationship & partnership with IT Leads, Technical Discipline Leads/specialists, Unit Production Specialist, Head of Operations, TA Coordinator(s) and sharing overall responsibility for the successful planning and execution of activities
  • During Steady Operations state work an office-hours schedule, approximately 40 hrs./week, 5 days per week, with flexibility to balance off time hours when required and be on duty roster if needed.
  • Are willing to comply with LNGC's drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Able to supervise System Engineers and/or contractors and mentor Engineers in Training (EIT).
  • Reports to Head of Systems and leads a team of
    • 4 direct reports
    • 8 to 10 Contractors under minimum two vendor agreements
    • 1 remote technical support
  • Given the importance of building and maintaining strong site partnerships, the individual in this role will be expected to spend at least 50% of their time on-site during their first six months. Thereafter, regular monthly travel to the site will be required (1 week per month).
