Full Job Description
We are looking for a Shop Leader for our Odessa Service Center. The ideal candidate will do the following: - Personally demonstrate his commitment to the HMH HSE Management System and ensure that other workers adhere to the requirements of the same. - Manage and supervise all aspects of the production shop. - Adhere to production schedule and budget. - Overhaul & Repair systems and equipment, in a production shop environment. - Applying technical knowledge of HMH’s equipment and technologies to ensure optimal performance of the drilling equipment by determining preventative measures to reduce inefficiencies and field mishaps - Providing training to new customers, employees and rig crews on safety procedures, safe operation, installation, and repair of HMH’s new or existing equipment to minimize hazards and accidents. - Resolving electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical problems by utilizing HMH’s unique troubleshooting and repair processes and procedures and developing best practices to positively impact drilling performance. - Interpreting engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics in support of HMH’s unique processes and procedures for equipment installations - Managing customer relationships to boost customer retention and satisfaction Essential Responsibilities: - Reports directly to the Area Manager in the day-to-day management and long-range stewardship of the Company. - Leading the Odessa shop activities. - Embrace and lead behavior-based safety and operational integrity principles. - Establish the infrastructure necessary for a continued buildup of manufacturing. - Make regular contact with the customers and smooth handover of equipment. - Open lines of communication with local regulatory bodies necessary to Achieve API certification Spearhead the development, submittal, and ultimate regulatory approval API Certification. - Support the development and maintenance of HMH’s business processes and management system in relation to the execution of the Company's business. - Further develop the Company's management system as it relates to operations, safety, and business controls. - Represent HMH at public and industry events in Odessa. - Provide direction and execution support to the Company's training and competency assurance systems required for a professional operation. - Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors of the company to ensure continued availability of goods and services for the company and preferred pricing. - Oversee preparation and compliance of budgets as related to the manufacturing shop and ensure that resources are being utilized properly and that programs are carried out as planned. - Work with Human Resources, assisting in development of a local recruitment strategy for personnel to work in the OSC shop. - Work to create a positive and strong team culture. - Strong communications with other departments - engineering, Operations, accounting, sales, HSE, etc. Other duties or responsibilities may arise from time to time and as may be assigned by the Company. - Participate in and lead in the Safety Observation Card (SOC) program and ensure that all issues are reported and closed out. - Participate in the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for any operations relating to service and maintenance activities. Act as a lead in the JSA process and ensure information is communicated and PTW and JSA requirements are understood by all job participants. - Maintain adequate inventory levels for equipment in the area of responsibility. supervise receiving and issuing of parts and maintenance of material control. - In case of equipment damage, report it to the General Manager and ensure proper documentation and follow-up. - Keep abreast of operational/technical bulletins pertaining to their particular area of responsibility and ensure all requisite documents are kept up to date. - Attend & Lead pre-tour, pre-job and weekly safety meeting and other client and 3rd party safety meetings as required. - Ensure and enforce the proper use of PPE at all levels within his work area. - Responsible for scheduling inspection and certification and upkeep of all equipment such as but not limited to - Rigging & Lifting equipment: - Overhead Cranes - Radios and related communication equipment - Environmental related equipment - Emergency & Fire Fighting equipment - Forklift - Ensures all certification and training requirements are always met and maintained as per the company training matrix. - Must represent the company in a professional manner both on and off the job to include confidentiality of company and client business. - Fulfill all other requirements as directed by policy and the Area Manager. Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 12 years of relevant experience) - Minimum 2 years of management experience - Relevant trade certificate and minimum of 7 years’ Service/Production/Manufacturing background in similar capacity with a good safety record. - Commitment to Health, Safety, Security, Environment (HSSE) - Previous experience as a Field Service Technician Desired Characteristics - At least 15 years’ experience in a service or maintenance capacity - Enthusiasm to build a new company with cultural diversity - Relevant trade certificate and or 15+ years Maintenance/Service background in similar capacity with a good safety record. Additional information: - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis, now or in the future, without employer sponsorship for employment visa status.
