Full Job Description
We are seeking an Orthopaedic Surgeon to join the current team of five at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre (ARHCC). The successful candidate will have completed fellowship training in lower extremity surgery (hip and knee). The candidate will have fellowship training in multiple approaches to hip arthroplasty, revision hip and knee arthroplasty and robotic arthroplasty surgery. Experience with unicompartmental knee arthroplasty, navigation and 3D printing would be considered an asset.
The successful applicant must be willing to work as a team with the orthopaedic group, physician colleagues and allied medical professionals at ARHCC. They must have excellent interpersonal skills and be willing to participate in quality improvement initiatives. They are expected to open an elective practice in the Abbotsford region. They must be able to work within the existing OR, inpatient beds and on call structure. Additional allied care support includes nurse practitioners for inpatient care and cast technicians in the cast clinic.
Additionally, as a member of the Fraser Health medical staff, you will participate in the University of British Columbia (UBC) medical education program and are expected to apply for a clinical faculty appointment in the Division of Orthopedics, UBC.
ARHCC is a 244-bed hospital that is located in Abbotsford, BC, Canada. It is a regional hospital that provides higher level of care to the surrounding Fraser Valley East and is a Level 3 trauma centre. There is a paediatric inpatient ward and the group is responsible for providing paediatric trauma care. Additional services include ICU/Critical Care and Cardiac services. The hospital is attached to the Cancer Centre, providing orthopaedic care for metastatic disease. Additional resources include a daytime orthopaedic trauma operating room four days per week.
Abbotsford is a community nestled in the Fraser Valley approximately 40 minutes east of Vancouver. It is surrounded by the coastal mountains and rivers providing a lush backdrop and access to many outdoor recreational activities.
