Full Job Description
MacEwan University is seeking an Organizational Design and Job Evaluation Consultant for a full-time continuing opportunity with our Human Resources department.

Reporting to the Director, Organizational Design and Development, you will work to improve organizational effectiveness through the development, project management, analysis, and implementation of organizational and job design solutions and job evaluation activities at MacEwan University.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Continuously building and maintaining relationships with senior leaders and clients to understand business needs and strategic goals;
  • Developing and maintaining institutional standards and guidelines for organizational and job design best practices;
  • Acting as a subject matter expert and influencer in providing organizational design expertise and advice to assist leaders in implementing and managing organizational structures and systems that foster excellence and equity;
  • Conducting internal and external scans to support evidence-based organizational design decision-making;
  • Designing new jobs and redesigning existing jobs in order to improve role clarification, work coverage, and succession opportunities, taking into consideration job evaluation implications;
  • In collaboration with Human Resources Business Partners, developing organizational review implementation plans, including phasing, impact analysis, communications, and change management;
  • Conducting detailed stakeholder assessments and job audits to ascertain change impacts and needs, to tailor messages, actions, and approaches to different audiences;
  • Maintaining internal equity through the delivery of job evaluation using the University's designated job evaluation plan(s) and Job Families Framework for MacEwan Staff Union and Out of Scope positions;
  • Leading and/or participating in projects that ensure the effectiveness of job evaluation program delivery such as benchmarking, evaluation plan updates/maintenance, and developing informational resources;
  • Providing training and communications about compensation, job design, and evaluation processes to the MacEwan community;
  • Evaluating and adjudicating job evaluation appeals, and handling grievances related to job evaluation issues which includes working collaboratively with Human Resources Business Partners when required; and
  • Liaising and working with MacEwan Staff Union representatives on job evaluation issue resolution, answering inquiries, and providing information when required.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in human resources, commerce, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience, including the development and delivery of organizational design projects, programs, policy and services, as well as in applying job evaluation systems and practices.
  • Experience applying current knowledge of theory and practice related to organizational and job design, job evaluation and related impact assessments and change management.
  • Experience using an HRIS system such as PeopleSoft would be considered an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
