Full Job Description
NASC is seeking an Ordnance Technician to support the NAWCAD Sonobuoy Facility and Acoustics Systems Division at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. This position will require an active security clearance.

The selected candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

Thorough working knowledge of ashore explosives safety regulations, policies, instructions and directives, and knowledge of maintaining weapon facilities Explosives Safety compliance as well as participation in associated inspections and technical assist visits. The position requires familiarity with publications, directives, and instructions including NAVSEA OP-5, Volume 1, Ammunition and Explosives Safety Ashore; OPNAVINST 5530.13 series, Department of the Navy Physical Security Instruction for Conventional Arms, Ammunition and Explosives (AA&E); OPNAVINST 5585.2 series, OPNAVINST 8023.24 series (Navy Personnel Ammunition and Explosives Handling Qualification and Certification Program). The position also requires expert knowledge of Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Aircraft stores loading and maintenance, as well as experience using the Electronic Function Select features (EFS) on sonobuoys.

Functions:

Candidate will ensure the safety, security, and accountability of Navy Airborne ASW ordnance. Duties will include the safe receipt, storage, transport, inventory, refurbishment, repair, demilitarization, and destruction of Airborne ASW ordnance, as well as the maintenance, security, and sustainment of operations of ordnance storage facilities. Reviews, analyzes, develops, prepares and applies engineering, technical or maintenance specifications, policies, standards or procedures related to ordnance systems. Organizes, analyses, and prepares reports or presentations of technical data and information. Perform test and evaluations of systems equipment or components, compiles, processes, reduces or analyzes test data and results

Education: High school graduate or equivalency certification, and completion of a technical school, trade school, or armed services technical school curriculum or course of training in avionics, mechanics, armaments/ordnance, or engineering technology.

Experience: Minimum - 6 years performing the foregoing functions; including 2 years' experience as Team Leader or Supervisor managing other technical personnel performing the foregoing functions. Additionally, minimum 6 years' experience working as an Ordnanceman, proficient with the US Navy's Ordnance Inventory System (OIS) and associated Receipts, Expenditures, Shipments, Issues, Notice Ammunition Reclassification (NAR) and Condition code changes, All Weapon Inventory System (AWIS), and submitting Conventional Ordinance Discrepancy reports (CODR) to the Product Data Reporting and Evaluation Program (PREP) manager. Experience with Air ASW test and evaluation and sonobuoy logistics is highly desirable. Experience operation a forklift is desirable.

Compensation: The general salary range for this position is $80,000 - $160,000. NASC compensation is based on factors such as experience, qualifications and contract-specific requirements. Final compensation will be determined by individual qualifications and contract terms.
