The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Vancouver General Hospital is looking to hire a full-time oral and maxillofacial pathologist to join a large group of Anatomic Pathologists.

This is a blended clinical and academic position, requiring the successful applicant to provide diagnostic support and consultative expertise. This is a busy service, with significant teaching responsibilities: Vancouver General Hospital serves as a training centre for Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology (OMOP), Pathology, and Dermatology residents and Head and Neck fellows; the successful candidate will also participate in teaching of undergraduate and graduate students, and in administrative tasks, including quality management, committee work and collaboration in health authority initiatives. With research experience and publications, the applicant will be expected to work synergistically with the affiliated research programs, continuing the tradition of academic excellence at UBC and Vancouver Coast Health.

This position will also be a clinical faculty position in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Clinical faculty appointments at UBC will be at a rank determined by the Appointments and Promotion Committee of the UBC Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. An applicant holding a PhD with a strong track record of publications and OMOP teaching experience, as well as independent sign-out experience is preferred. In accordance with Canadian Employment and Immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada. Qualified applicants must be Canadian Board certified in the OMOP, hold a good standing as an OMOP Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, and be eligible for full licensure with the College of Oral Health Professionals of BC.

As Consultant Pathologist with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will:
  • Participate fully in all aspects of the diagnostic laboratory.
  • Participate in an on-call roster to meet the clinical needs of the Division.
  • Participation in quality improvement and quality management as part of clinical responsibilities.
  • Participate in administrative duties that may be assigned by the Division and/or Department.
  • Contribute to the academic productivity of the Division through collaborative pursuit of clinical research projects, participation in educational programs, and other academic activities.


Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:
  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) OR College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia (CDSBC) - Mandatory
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) OR Canadian Dental Services Plans Inc. (CDSPI) - Mandatory
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) OR Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (FRCDC) - Eligible
