Job Summary:
A leading public sector organization is seeking an experienced Database Administrator with extensive expertise in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The ideal candidate will have deep experience administering Oracle databases, middleware, and cloud environments, while supporting high availability, disaster recovery, performance optimization, and automation initiatives. The role requires participation in an on-call rotation and availability for occasional after-hours and weekend maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and manage Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments, including database, middleware, and infrastructure components.
  • Develop and maintain Oracle APEX applications and Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS).
  • Configure, administer, patch, and maintain Oracle WebLogic Server environments.
  • Plan and execute Oracle database upgrades, migrations, and conversions.
  • Implement backup, recovery, and replication strategies using RMAN and related technologies.
  • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and data protection across Oracle environments.
  • Monitor database health and optimize performance through tuning and best practices.
  • Automate routine administrative tasks using shell scripting, Ansible, and related tools.
  • Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support seamless application deployments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while providing timely operational support.
  • Maintain technical documentation and promote Oracle OCI administration best practices.

Required Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
  • Experience with:
    • Oracle Application Express (APEX) 18+
    • Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) 22+
    • Oracle WebLogic Server 14 (Fusion Middleware and WebLogic Suite)
    • Oracle Database 19c and 26ai
    • Container Databases (CDB) and Pluggable Databases (PDB)
  • Experience upgrading Oracle Database from 19c to 26ai.
  • Strong Linux/Unix administration skills, including shell scripting.
  • Experience with PDB cloning.
  • Expertise in RMAN backup and recovery procedures.
  • Oracle WebLogic administration, patching, and maintenance.
  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 24ai.
  • Experience applying Oracle PSU patches using Fleet Management Tool.
  • Experience with Oracle Database as a Service (DBaaS) in OCI.
  • Proficiency with GitLab and Ansible scripting.
  • Experience implementing and managing Oracle Data Guard.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and architecture.
  • Experience designing high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Experience with Oracle OEM Cloud Control monitoring and management.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in Python and JavaScript scripting.
  • Strong knowledge of database security best practices.
  • Expertise in database performance tuning and optimization.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call support rotation.

Preferred Certifications:
  • Oracle certifications such as OCIP, OCP, or OCE.

  • Understanding of microservices architecture and API integration.
