We are currently seeking a Oracle Database Administrator (Oracle DBA) - Remote to join our team in Victoria, British Columbia (CA-BC), Canada (CA).

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (Oracle DBA) to join the Operations team within the IT Security, Privacy & Operations Division. This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration, security, performance, backup and recovery, provisioning, patching, and upgrade of Oracle database environments.

The Oracle DBA will work closely with application development teams, technical coordinators, system administrators, data modellers, business portfolio managers, software vendors, and other technical and business stakeholders to design, implement, maintain, and optimize database solutions supporting critical Justice and Public Safety applications and services.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong DBA who enjoys working in a complex enterprise environment and providing both hands-on technical expertise and strategic database guidance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert database advice to application development and project teams on database architecture, application design, packaging, deployment, delivery, and migration.
  • Provide technical consulting and support for the design, enhancement, implementation, and ongoing administration of enterprise databases.
  • Develop and maintain standards, processes, and best practices for database administration, application deployment, implementation, and migration.
  • Lead consultations with technical and business stakeholders to review, refine, and gain acceptance of database standards and procedures.
  • Administer database design, development, deployment, and management tools, working with software vendors to troubleshoot issues and resolve product deficiencies.
  • Research new database technologies, infrastructure products, features, and software versions, assessing technical impacts, risks, costs, and benefits.
  • Protect organizational data assets by implementing and maintaining appropriate database security, access controls, and security best practices.
  • Develop, maintain, and test database backup and recovery strategies to ensure business continuity and data recoverability.
  • Review database object design and implementation to ensure compliance with established standards and best practices.
  • Develop and implement technical strategies to support database technology enhancements and modernization initiatives.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and database administration standards.
  • Monitor database performance, capacity, utilization, and throughput; identify issues and implement performance improvements.
  • Test and implement database patches, fixes, upgrades, and vendor-recommended updates.
  • Plan, configure, test, and implement new versions of Oracle database software.
  • Support the migration of operational applications and databases into upgraded or new environments.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting, performance tuning, and operational support for Oracle database environments.


Required Qualifications

Education
  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 3 years of recent, relevant experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and a minimum of 5 years of recent, relevant experience.


Required Experience

Candidates must have recent, hands-on experience with:
  • Providing database administration, management, and technical advisory services within a large, complex enterprise IT environment.
  • Advising on database application design, deployment, packaging, delivery, implementation, and migration.
  • Performing day-to-day Oracle database administration, including:
    • Database security and access management
    • Database provisioning and configuration
    • Performance monitoring and optimization
    • Backup and recovery
    • Database patching and upgrades
    • Capacity and resource management
  • Implementing Oracle backup and recovery solutions using technologies such as RMAN and Data Pump.
  • Troubleshooting and tuning Oracle database performance.
  • Developing and maintaining UNIX/Linux shell scripts to automate and support DBA activities.
  • Supporting database migrations, upgrades, patches, and changes in production and non-production environments.
  • Developing and maintaining database administration standards, procedures, and technical documentation.

Pay Transparency

Where required by law, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this remote role is $90.919-$105,390. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate's actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications.

This position is eligible for company benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance with an employer contribution, flexible spending or health savings account, life and AD&D insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program with company match, and additional voluntary or legally-required benefits.
