Opportunity OverviewThe Innovation Lab is an advanced R&D team that is part of the Semiconductor Test Division at Teradyne. We have a dual charter to technically support the growth of the division and company:
- Create long term differentiated solutions for our core Semiconductor Test business by exploring new technologies and architectures to be applied against current and emerging key requirements for our customers.
- Working with our Business Development Office, develop differentiated solutions to new business opportunities that are relatively adjacent to our core business. These will generally enable new businesses within our existing customer base.
The
Optical Engineer will be involved in the product definition and development of optical test solutions for emerging markets, such as microLED. This role is an integral part of a dynamic, cross-functional team dedicated to developing innovative solutions for emerging markets within semiconductor test. Our team fosters a collaborative culture that encourages contributions across a broad range of disciplines. You'll be hands-on throughout the project lifecycle and supported by engineers across the organization to help bring your ideas to life.
- Interacting with customers to define requirements for new optical test products.
- Working with engineers from other disciplines to develop innovative products.
- Design verification of new optical instrumentation in the lab and integrated into optical test cells to verify new products meet their target functionality and specifications.
- Develop and verify instrumentation calibration and test processes to be used by both customers and Teradyne manufacturing.
- Design and develop custom optical systems, with a primary focus on lens specification, selection, and optimization
- Translate system-level requirements into optical specifications including resolution, MTF, distortion, FOV, NA, and illumination uniformity
- Perform optical modeling and simulation using tools such as Zemax or equivalent
- Work with external vendors to specify, source, and qualify custom lenses and optical components
- Support the fleet of products in the field, which may include root cause & failure analysis, troubleshooting, and implementing new feature requests.
