Chipton-Ross is seeking a Optical Engineer (Level 4) for a contract opportunity in Albuquerque, NM.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
- 5+ years minimum of related experience.
- Education or work experience in Electro-Optics.
- Experience with Electro Optical (ex: producing specifications, tolerances, simulations, assembly, integration and test of fiber optic (F/O) sensors, systems and components, including sensors, lasers, fiber-optics, and telecommunications products).
- Experience in laser and electro-optical systems and optical communication systems requirements development, integration, testing and analysis.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES- Develops and validates requirements for various complex communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components.
- Develops and validates electromagnetic requirements for electrical\electronic systems, mechanical systems, interconnects and structures.
- Develop architectures to integrate multiple systems into higher level systems and platforms.
- Performs complicated trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements.
- Design complex electro-optical and laser systems.
- Develop new and improved modeling and simulation techniques.
- Develop and implement critical tests to validate performance of designs to requirements.
- Manage appropriate aspects of critical supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements.
- Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use by providing guidance and support to resolve complex issues.
- Support project management by providing coordinating development of statement of work (SOW), budget, schedule and other required inputs and conducting appropriate reviews.
- Generate major sections of large-scale proposals to support development of new business.
- Perform some work in a clean room environment.
- Works under minimal direction.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)- Experience effectively communicating and collaborating on multi-discipline teams.
- Experience in electro-optical design and analysis using Zemax, CodeV or an equivalent software design package.
- Experience performing analysis on EO/IR systems.
REQUIRED EDUCATIONMinimum of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement ( e.g.Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience). ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
