Job Description

BAE Systems - Weapon Systems is looking for an Associate Program Manager to join our team in Louisville, KY. This individual will be responsible for supporting the Submarine product line with the aim to: achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction; achieve cost/profitability, schedule, and technical performance objectives; and effectively manage program complexities that include production and product sustainment. The Associate Program Manager will work across functional lines to meet the program objectives. Primary responsibilities are focused on supporting the Program Managers with the management of the production process to yield on-time deliveries. This individual will also support customer and internal program status meetings during Program and Technical reviews. The Associate Program Manager will support development of pertinent program documentation including the Program Plan of Execution, Risk and Opportunity Management Plan and other Life Cycle Management plans.

Responsibilities:
  • Assists Program Managers in managing, planning, and performing management and financial control of contracts.
  • Supports achievement of financial, schedule, technical, and business performance objectives in accordance with the Integrated Business Plan (IBP).
  • Coordinates activities across multiple functions to support program objectives and demonstrates good analytical, leadership and communication skills at all levels of management.
  • Assists the Program Managers to monitor and manage the completion of hardware deliverables and on-time delivery.
  • Manages hardware shipments, internal shipment planning and coordination activities, and coordinates with Quality team functional reviews of shipments.
  • Assists in the management of customer warranty claims, coordinates with Program Quality Manager and supporting functions to determine root cause and corrective actions, implement quality improvements, and deliver warranty material to the customer.
  • Coordinates with the program teams to develop and maintain the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and monitor program team's performance against the IMS.
  • Develops reports on key program metrics including on-time delivery, hardware production and delivery forecasts, and performance to labor and material budgets.
  • Supports recurring status meetings with the program teams and customers.
  • Facilitates customer meetings and coordinates visits with Export and Security functions.
  • Successfully navigates through cultural differences to understand unique stakeholder customs, expectations, values, and priorities.
  • Utilizes appropriate messages, channels, and resources to ensure effective communication to overcome barriers.
  • Assists in the Identification and assessment of performance gaps to customer expectations or program objectives, assists in the development and initiation of improvement plans to close the gaps, and gathering of metrics to verify performance to plan.
  • Supports capture efforts to secure new contracts.
  • Supports proposal activity that may include preparing outlines and project timelines to be compliant with Request for Proposal requirements.
  • Interfaces with cross-functional team members in contracts, finance, engineering, operations, and other supporting organizations.


Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business environment
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Ability to initiate, prioritize, and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to successfully interact with diverse team members, management, and customers in the pursuit of Program goals

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Professional Certification (PMP)
  • Experience in manufacturing, assembly, machining, welding, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or operations management, scheduling, or planning
  • Experience in Program/Project Management, Controls, or Coordination
  • Experience with Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and cross-functional teams
  • Experience in program scope and cost estimating including estimate to complete/estimate at completion (ETC/EAC) processes
  • Experience creating and customizing project management tools in Microsoft Excel using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
  • Advanced proficiency with ORACLE, Microsoft Project, or Microsoft Excel application
