Job Summary

Operator Qualification Coordinator II assists with the implementation of the Alliant Energy Gas Operator Qualification Program (AEGOQP), including updating and modifying the program as industry or company requirements demand. This position ensures evaluation requirements are consistently applied and evaluation results are properly tracked in accordance with the AEGOQP requirements. This role applies comprehensive knowledge of technical fields with regard to gas operator qualification (OQ) covered tasks. This position is responsible for the scheduling and evaluation of field employees in the technical areas related to OQ, with some overnight travel to complete these responsibilities.

What you will do
  • Engages in other duties as needed that support our Values and help deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities. Reviews the gas operator qualification plan, gas construction standards, gas engineering standards, gas operations work practice, and gas operations and maintenance plan with gas technical employees in regard to fusion, welding, and OQ-covered tasks.
  • Develops and maintains an annual evaluation schedule for fusion, welding, and OQ-covered tasks in the most effective and efficient manner to ensure all employees maintain compliance.
  • Administers written and performance evaluations, based on job classification and duties, to field employees to ensure those employees have the appropriate knowledge, skills, and ability to perform covered tasks.
  • Performs destructive testing of the employee’s fusion or welding samples in the areas of pipe joining using fusion or welding.
  • Assists in the design, development, and assessment of AEGOQP evaluation programs and materials, including written evaluations and performance evaluations for welding, fusion, and OQ-covered tasks.
  • Models, observes, and enforces company safety rules and proper personal protection equipment.
  • Works with internal steering and standards groups to remain up to date with tools, techniques, and procedures.
  • Interacts with internal departments to ensure training meets company, compliance, and regulatory standards and requirements.
  • Supports company goals and performance by ensuring accurate and timely tracking and improvement of activities and processes.
  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Required Experience
  • 5 years of experience in gas operations, design, construction, or related area.

Other Requirements
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Travel can include occasional overnight stays.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of gas operator qualification covered tasks and operating practices, construction standards, work methods, equipment, maintenance practices, and materials.
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of safety rules and applicable gas codes and DOT regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand utility maps and drawings.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and relate policies, procedures and processes to a diverse audience, ensuring accurate comprehension is achieved.
  • Demonstrated experience working with labor unions and/or management preferred.
  • Proven ability to achieve results with a minimum amount of direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management). Understanding of CERC Plus preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Pay Range:

This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
