Senior Manager, PaymentsReporting to the Director, the Senior Manager, Payments is the primary custodian of Questbank's money movement ecosystem. Your mission is to ensure that every transaction-whether via EFT, Interac, or future real-time rails-is executed with 100% reliability and speed. You will lead the transition from traditional clearing to AI-assisted payment operations, leveraging automation to manage exceptions and optimize settlement liquidity in real-time.

- Network Stewardship: Own the operational relationship and daily execution for all Canadian payment rails, including Payments Canada (EFT), Interac e-Transfer, and Bill Payments.
- Real-Time Rails (RTR) Readiness: Lead the operational design and implementation for Canada's upcoming Real-Time Rail, ensuring Questbank is positioned for instant, 24/7/365 payment capabilities.
- Settlement & Liquidity: Oversee daily clearing and settlement processes, ensuring all financial obligations are met across networks with absolute precision.
- Vendor & Partner Governance: Manage the operational performance of payment processors and fintech partners (e.g., Visa, BRIM), ensuring strict adherence to commercial terms and service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Intelligent Exception Management: Deploy AI-driven tools and agentic workflows to automate the investigation of payment failures and clearing discrepancies, significantly reducing manual "toil".
- Predictive Fraud & Velocity Controls: Partner with Risk and Data Science teams to integrate machine learning models into the payment flow to identify high-risk transactions before settlement.
- Process Mining: Utilize process mining and automation (e.g., Power Automate) to identify bottlenecks in the payment lifecycle and re-engineer workflows for maximum "Straight-Through Processing" (STP)
- Regulatory Guardian: Ensure all payment activities remain in strict compliance with FINTRAC, Payments Canada rules, and OSFI guidelines.
- Incident Response Leadership: Serve as the operational lead for payment-related system incidents, ensuring rapid recovery and transparent communication to the Product and Sales teams.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team of Payment Operations Specialists, fostering a culture of technical excellence and "radical candor"
So are YOU our next Senior Manager, Payments? You are if you...- Have 7+ years of experience in Banking Operations, specifically focused on Canadian payment systems and clearing.
- Have a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Have deep technical understanding of ISO 20022 messaging standards and the Canadian electronic clearing system.
- Have a proven track record of managing high-volume, mission-critical financial infrastructure.
- Have a AI-Forward Mindset: Demonstrated ability to identify and implement AI/ML use cases to improve operational efficiency and decisioning.
- Have analytical Rigor: Proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools (Power BI/Tableau) to monitor real-time payment health and performance.
- Have Crisis Management: Ability to maintain composure and lead teams through high-pressure system outages or network-level disruptions.
- Collaboration: Strong ability to bridge the gap between technical Engineering teams and client-facing Sales/Product stakeholders.
- MBA or relevant professional certifications (e.g., Accredited Payments Professional) is considered an asset.
Compensation Information:- Base salary range: $140,000 - $160,000
- The final compensation package will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and geographic location (Canada). It includes a comprehensive benefits plan and a competitive incentive (bonus) program for Full-Time Permanent roles.
