Job Summary

The Operations Project Manager reports to the VP/GM and is responsible for the maintenance and efficiency of all ready-mix plants in their assigned region. Duties include operational involvement, urgent and preventative maintenance of ready-mix plants, capital project budgeting and implementation, special projects and initiatives, production efficiency, and employee leadership with a strong emphasis on safety and environmental compliance. This position works closely with other departments, i.e., Sales, Finance, Environmental, Safety and Human Resources.

Compensation

$130k - $145k DOE

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance and projects for all ready-mix operations
  • Manage Plant Maintenance employees, electricians, and construction crew
  • Safety and development of all personnel, including training, certifications, staffing recommendations, performance, coaching, employee grievances and complaints, and pay changes
  • Productivity reporting and analysis
  • Environmental, OSHA, MSHA, Department of Transportation (DOT), and other regulatory compliance
  • Responsible for Capital project budgeting and implementation
  • Close collaboration with Operations Manager in areas of goal setting, customer service, and staff development
  • Direct, coach, and develop employees, and ensure company policy compliance


Education

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM, Transportation, Logistics, Operations, Business Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Any relevant operations management certifications, i.e., industry-specific management training


Requirements/Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience running a ready-mix operation, including ancillary functions such as yard production and product delivery
  • Experience managing and maintaining plant equipment
  • Experience with OSHA/MSHA regulations and requirements
  • Experience with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and requirements
  • Experience managing groups of employees in separate locations, as required for assigned locations
  • Personnel management experience, i.e., hiring and selection, performance reviews, discipline, and legal compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of office systems, including knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office software packages
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to: stoop, bend, squat, lift (50 pounds frequently, 75 pounds occasionally), stretch, push, drive, pull, twist, kneel, stand, walk, sit, reach, and the manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard
  • Team player with an ability to multi-task and set priorities
  • Attention to detail; results-oriented mentality
  • Must adhere to the company drug and alcohol policy

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
