Position Summary

The Operations Manager is the senior leader of the operations team, which is responsible for the management and oversight of the plant manufacturing and warehouse departments. The position reports directly to the Plant Manager and is a key member of the plant leadership team.

What you'll do
  • Manages daily operations of the plant to ensure processes are followed reliably and consistently in production and the warehouse.
  • Responsible for leading the team in completing the daily customer work orders and the RTS schedule.
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Able to think independently to use a high level of judgement to make decisions on complex tasks and problem-solving in production and warehouse areas.
  • Reviews and analyzes production, quality, maintenance, financial, and operational reports to determine actions to reduce defects, inefficiencies, and other nonconformities.
  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate problems and improve production quality & inefficiencies.
  • Consults with support personnel on the operation, maintenance, and modification of equipment and processes to improve production and quality of products.
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities to ensure effectiveness.
  • Provides and maintains a safe work environment and fosters the culture required to sustain a safe workplace for all plant employees.
  • Facilitates positive employee relations and work environment for the team.
  • Supports the plant Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) program ensuring compliance to policy and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to Standard Work Procedures and Work Instructions for all roles.
  • Facilitates the deployment and support of standards, principles, and practices throughout the organization.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of plant-specific training courses and associated materials.
  • Performs and/or supports 6S, kaizen activities & events, layered process audits and safety audits.
  • Able to lead kaizen activities within production teams and varying levels to maintain a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensures compliance with all related quality and safety systems.


What you'll bring
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business preferred; experience leading manufacturing operations may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years in an operational leadership role in a lean manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Lean training and application experience with demonstrated results preferred.
  • Must have PC literacy with standard office and productivity software packages.
  • Understanding of production planning processes, preferably in a high volume/high mix environment.
  • Must have the communication and interpersonal skills required to effectively communicate with all levels of our organization.
