Scope of Leadership Role

The Operations Manager is a hands-on leader of overall production operations who will drive day to day shop floor performance over multiple value streams at Florence, KY over 3 shifts. This critical role will be responsible for ensuring the manufacture of products in planned quantities, at budgeted cost, and of desired quality while following required safety protocols.

The Operations Manager will also actively support Regal Rexnord Business System (RBS) initiatives to enable continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process and elevate the site to a 'center of excellence' for the Coupling Division and a destination of choice for external customers.

Key Responsibilities

Production Management
  • Partner with Plant Manager and Division Operations leadership to develop and implement long-term operations strategy which results in sustainable SQDC improvements that benefit stakeholders and customers.
  • Collaborate with business leadership to align strategic initiatives (including new product development and new product introduction) that achieve financial goals.
  • Manage daily production activities to achieve goals and improve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC) objectives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Build processes and structure to support improvement and sustain gains.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional resources that impact and support the value stream, to convert customer specifications into a functional product that aligns with business objectives, quality requirements, and cost objectives.
  • Understand current and future product needs and develop plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into existing manufacturing activities. Manage product movement in and/or out of internal operations as business needs change.
  • Oversee and lead analysis and planning of workforce utilization, manpower planning, workflow, and design of equipment layout and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Evaluate production and quality problems, provide guidance and assistance with resolving issues, and facilitate actions to implement permanent corrective actions, including technical support and instruction for new manufacturing procedures. Use KPI's to make data driven decisions and drive problem solving activities.
  • Display commitment to customers and internal stakeholders by proactively communicating, taking ownership of risks/issues, and facilitating effective outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with Regal Rexnord policies at both the corporate and local level, including the Company's Safety Policy to facilitate a safe working environment and achieve related EHS metrics.

People Management and Development
  • Manage and develop direct reports and all associates to maximize their contribution to the success of the business and fully develop their talent and career potential and encourage long term retention.
  • Actively lead broader production team by maintaining a regular presence on the plant floor.
  • Drive positive culture change through engagement action planning, compliance with safety behaviors, accountability of performance/quality/productivity expectations, recognition and celebration of accomplishments, and a regular cadence of communication to all levels of the production team.
  • Partner with HR on talent acquisition, workforce capability and effectiveness, performance management, talent management, and corrective action recommendations.


Continuous Improvement
  • Lead activities and projects to support continuous improvement in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and cost reduction.
  • Create and enforce sustainable daily management practices with emphasis on repetitive structure, data-driven frequent touches, and Gemba focus.
  • Lead root cause analysis/counter measure implementation to resolve SQDC gaps.
  • Lead lean initiatives to seek out improvement opportunities and achieve target results and process improvements focused on internal and external Voice of the Customer (VOC).
  • Drive the Continuous Improvement Roadmap / Operational Excellence / Strategic Planning process to define improvement priorities which have the greatest impact to customers within the broader business strategy.
  • Make fact-based decisions on priorities for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, hiring, compensation, and Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) within the budget parameters.


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, or a technical discipline is required. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • 7+ years in manufacturing with at least 3 years of leadership experience in one or more of the following areas is required: Production, Materials, Engineering, Quality, Continuous Improvement.

  • Business Acumen: Familiarity with financial concepts including financial forecasting, variable overheads (scrap, MRO, freight), manpower planning, and overall budget monitoring and control. Strong understanding of how to create strong processes for monitoring and controlling as well as pull the right levers to achieve KPI targets
