Job Description

The Operations Manager ensures throughput targets are achieved in a safe, timely, quality, cost efficient and productive manner. Manages production schedules to fulfill orders; is accountable for the achievement of area performance objectives, product quality and variable costs; ensures employees are accurately trained, assigned specific duties, coached, disciplined, and rewarded; and always optimizes equipment availability, cycle times, and overall continual improvement.

1. Works with support departments to ensure that all area production methods and practices are consistent with internal quality standards, and customer requirements

2. Analyzes, establishes, and communicates performance standards for area of responsibility.

3. Control the flow of product, materials and labor utilization in the business unit to maximize productivity and minimize cost while achieving safety, quality, inventory and throughput targets.

4. Review and plan for daily, weekly, and quarterly labor, equipment, tooling and supply requirements to achieve area throughput while meeting and exceeding productivity targets.

5. Develop area priorities as it relates to plant requirements and communicate daily with engineering, quality, production control, finance, human resources, production, and suppliers; measure performance against stated priorities.

6. Leads the team in developing and implementing effective systems for improving internal and external quality, cost improvements and on-time delivery to the customer requirements.

7. Effectively collaborate with manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, and production leads to achieve scrap, cost and safety requirements.

8. Provide effective leadership and act in a manner that maintains a positive and productive work environment with customers, clients, co-workers and area employees.

9. Analyze variable labor costs daily, work with supervisors to determine required staffing levels and support labor re-allocation across the plant as required.

10. Carry out management responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; evaluating and appraising individual performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

11. Supports cross training to insure the elimination of all skill gaps, resulting in a more skilled and adaptable workforce. Insures the completion of required competency forms and certifications, as well as maintains an employee skill matrix.

12. Administers policies and procedures as required.

13. Provides support to department employees as required.

14. Supports a zero injury culture by pro-actively complying with all environmental safe practices and regulations. Reads all MSDS' and possesses thorough knowledge of all oil and chemical labeling and storage requirements. Conducts EH&S self-inspection and safety huddles in areas of responsibility.

15. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

1. B.S. or B.A. Degree

2. 5+ years Manufacturing experience (aerospace, forging, machining backgrounds preferred)

3. Supervisory experience leading teams of 100+ people; Performance management skills.

4. Analytical skills; Personal accountability; Strong organizational skills.

5. Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of organization, especially with direct employees.

6. Intermediate use of MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and QAD; other productivity tools.

7. Quality focused & production driven.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

1. Must be capable of working effectively with minimal direction and supervision.

2. Process improvement experience is desirable (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).

3. Must possess excellent problem solving, organizational and verbal & written communication skills.

4. Solid, overall business acumen and a strong mindset for continuous improvement.

5. Attention to detail and an attitude of 100% compliance with all company and regulatory requirements.

6. Work requires verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.

7. High energy level and ability to work flexible hours.

8. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

9. Strong computer skills (e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, MRP).

10. Strong attention to detail.

11. Results oriented.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $128,000 to $192,000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)). To comply with those regulations, this position may require applicants to be U.S. Persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)), or eligible to obtain the required export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or the U.S. Department of Commerce.
