THE CHALLENGE

The Operations Engineer is a critical role focused on ensuring the reliability and high performance of our game services, infrastructure, and core business systems. You will manage and optimize essential operations, including systems monitoring, risk identification, incident response and escalation, and overall operational processes. This role requires continuous, cross-functional collaboration with game studios, infrastructure, and application teams on various requests and projects. Success requires knowledge across a comprehensive range of platforms and tools.
WHAT YOU'LL TAKE ON
• System & Platform Management
• Manage and maintain Windows and Linux servers, including in virtual and cloud-hosted environments, ensuring stability, security, and optimal performance.
• Cloud & Monitoring Operations
• Administer and manage multi-cloud services across AWS, Azure, GCP, and SaaS environments for seamless integration.
• Configure and utilize monitoring tools (e.g., CheckMK) to ensure comprehensive alerting, issue identification, and critical service incident awareness.
• Incident Response & Risk Management
• Spearhead outage management, including initial communication, triage, and escalation.
• Diagnose and resolve operational issues across various services using established playbooks.
• Assess potential operational risks and impacts on game and core services, taking proactive measures to prevent incidents.
• Relay accurate and timely information regarding service impacts to stakeholders.
• Operational Coverage
• Participate in the 24x7 operational coverage rotation, including scheduled on-shift and on-call duties. Candidates must be available for shifts that may extend beyond standard business hours, including weekends and public holidays, to triage and troubleshoot critical system alerts.
WHAT YOU BRING
• Technical Expertise & Proficiency
• Solid understanding of IT principles, theories, and concepts, including networking, scripting, and system architecture.
• Experience managing, maintaining, and interacting with: Windows and Linux environments; VMware, vSan, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP); Identity and access management systems; Messaging and collaboration systems; Configuration management tools; Scripting; VDI ; and IT Service Management/PMO tools (Jira, ServiceNow, Confluence).
• Problem Solving & Decision Making
• Address diverse and moderately complex operational problems using sound judgment.
• Proactively develop and recommend solutions to tactical business issues.
• Exercise considerable autonomy in making operational decisions, consulting with senior engineers on highly complex issues as necessary.
• Support and Escalation
• Experience supporting C-Level executives and handling critical IT issues.
• Ability to promptly and efficiently address critical infrastructure and service issues.
