Reporting To: Vice President - Canadian Drilling

JOB SUMMARY

Located out of Nisku, Alberta - This position provides supervision and coordination of all aspects of operations on assigned drilling rigs (Client relations, equipment requirements, personnel and safety issues, etc.)

Rig Managers, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales & Marketing, Engineering, Human Resources

EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS

Clients, Vendors

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Supervision of daily rig operations (performance, requirements, safety, personnel, purchasing, client relations) for group of assigned rigs
• Procurement of truck bids (rig moves), quotes for AFE's etc.
• Field visitation (rig housekeeping, training, equipment/employee issues, policy/procedures/safety inspection)
• Cost tracking - M & R's, Want Lists, AFE's
• Participates in monthly safety and operations meeting
• Direct supervision of the Rig Managers, and crews, including the safety of personnel and operations.
• Monitoring of the performance and quality of the performance of each rig under contract through daily operations.
• Reviewing the operations with client representative to assure quality and satisfactory job performance.
• Communicating any operational or technical concerns with the VP and/or Engineering team.
• Directing the startup and shutdown procedures and activities with the Rig Manager.
• Evaluating Rig Manager performance and skill profiles
• Monitoring non-assigned rigs when other Drilling Superintendents are in the field or when alternating on-call
• Daily routine review of personnel and safety issues on assigned rigs.
• Recommending, directing and/or supporting the Safety and Loss Control Program as required.
• Communicating any outstanding safety concerns with the VP and/or HSE Manager
• Regular field trips to ensure all company and all safety policies are adhered to.
• Ensuring maintenance of all equipment and the quality of service and operational performance are meeting company standards.
• Attendance at all operations meetings on a full-time basis, or part-time basis when that operation is experiencing problems or unusual operation requiring senior management support.
• Support to sales with regards to client technical issues and to act as a resource to technical sales.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Understanding of basic accounting principles (cost control & budgeting)
• Experience in domestic Canadian Drilling operations
• Familiar with variable rig types and equipment
