Full Job Description
Aplin is seeking an experienced OT Infrastructure Architect to support a large utility and industrial operations environment. This role will focus on the design, modernization, and support of Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure that enables critical electrical and control system operations.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across OT architecture, telecommunications, industrial networking, cybersecurity, and control systems while contributing to long-term technology planning and infrastructure improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise and architectural guidance for Operational Technology environments.
  • Support the development and implementation of OT infrastructure strategies and modernization initiatives.
  • Create and maintain technology roadmaps aligned with operational and business objectives.
  • Develop and document configuration standards, best practices, and technical procedures for OT assets and devices.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project teams on telecommunications and infrastructure projects.
  • Review, update, and maintain network diagrams, infrastructure documentation, and technical records.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for system improvements and lifecycle management.
  • Contribute to business case development, project planning, and technical evaluations.
  • Support the integration and enhancement of industrial control systems, communication networks, and cybersecurity controls.
  • Participate in other architecture and infrastructure-related initiatives as required.
Technical Environment Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
  • Electrical substation automation systems, RTUs, SMPs, and IEC 61850 technologies
  • Telecommunications infrastructure, including MPLS, private and public LTE networks, and radio communications
  • Industrial networking technologies such as switches, routers, and firewalls
  • Energy Management Systems (EMS), Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), and Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS)
  • OT cybersecurity and physical security systems
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng.) or equivalent technical certification is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience supporting OT, industrial automation, utility infrastructure, or electrical substation environments.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and supporting critical operational infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of networking, telecommunications, and industrial control systems.
  • Experience with risk management, change management, and technology lifecycle planning.
